He only lived a little ways from the church. The foundation is still in the ground where Jacobs monument is centered within. I will have to get my records out and refresh all. I worked on it for sometime and of course run up against a blank wall when I could not find where Jacob`s dad came from and since have found out that supposedly he was born in Bucks County. I knew he came from there but my Grandfather always said that two of the brothers came from Switzerland. He thought that there may have been three but said for sure there were two. My Grandfather was born in 1883 and came down through Isaac the thirteenth child of Jacob and Elizabeth. The next to the youngest child married a Richards and is buried just a mile and a half south of my residence. I live in Delta, Ohio. Jacob would have been my great, great great grandfather. My mother was an Oberholtzer. Do you know Wilmer Swope? He will provide you with more info as h! e goes to the Medway Mennonite church. Be interesting to find out more if you have it. Wilmer came from Elizabeth Crumbacher, the first child of Jacob. I do have a hard bound copy of Elisha Loomis book also. If you can add anymore to this it would be interesting. One fact you may not know is that the spring that Jacob used for water is still running at the present.

Jacob didn't buy that farm until 1807(It is possible that he lived there before he bought it.) and the Church wasn't there until 1825. If she died in Ohio she was probably buried near the home, but who knows where that was! Sam

Elizabeth Mellinger is buried at Reedsburg, Ohio. My assumption is that she is not buried at Medway Mennonite Cemetary. This is from many sources that I have contacted. Wilmer Swope can give you more info on that and he lives at Salem, Ohio. We are still looking for the burial information of Catarina ( Bachman) Oberholtzer

Her youngest daughter was born August 15, 1806 and died Nov. 1806. Jacob Oberholtzer came to Ohio in 1806. So if I was to bet I'd guess she died in Ohio. My understanding is most pioneers tried to come earlier in the year rather then later (not just before winter). Sam

    1. Re: [PDGO] Baker's Cemetery or Church?
    2. Dale, There is a cemetery in Rapho Twp, Lancaster Co that might be the one you are looking for. Per "Churches & Cemeteries of Lancaster Co. " by A. Hunter Rineer Jr.: Masterson Brethern in Christ Cemetery Adjoins church on east side of Colebrook Rd. at Mastersonville Road. Started before 1860. Appeared on maps in 1864 & 1875 . It was probably the Hummer/Brubaker/Baker family graveyard. Keifer gravestones were moved in later. Hope this helps.
