It's great that you had such a good time--it's always?fun to see old classmates.? Our 20th is coming up in November and I can't wait!? We have been having reunions every five years, though--there were 135 of us.? We've lost two classmates--one to a car accident, one to illness.? One of the strangest experiences I have ever had was visiting my high school about five years after we graduated--you really expect the bell to ring and to see all of your old friends pouring out of the rooms into the hallways. A group of us have been emailing back and forth ever since the notice went out, and we all agree we don't feel any older! --Debra -----Original Message----- From: Richard Berkheiser <reberkheiser@earthlink.net> To: PADUTCH-LIFE@rootsweb.com Sent: Mon, 30 Jul 2007 9:57 am Subject: [PD-LIFE] My Class Reunion Hi everyone! Well, I survived my first high school class reunion Saturday. Many of us haven't seen each other in 20 years so it was interesting and fun. It brought back a lot of memories. We were a small private school class of 23 but 13 of us were able to show up including spouses and children. We're actually old enough to have teenagers??? And grandkids???? I tried to get a count and all I could come up with was 33 people, but I'm sure there were more. I was amazed how little we've changed. My one old friend said it best. We still act the same but only in older bodies. It didn't take long for me to get reacquainted with my best friend from high school. Before long we were back in our old groove. This time his wife and kids joined in on the fun! What was funny was when my friend and I were sitting there at the picnic table trying to fill out a fill in the blank sheet of what we know of our fellow classmates. After about the first 5 minutes, I just started going down the list and filling in names. I'm sure many of them weren't gender correct. I know I put a guy's name down for "I'm three months pregnant". My friend was even worse. He slid his over to his wife and had her fill it out and she wasn't even in our class! :-) When it was time for the class group picture, we were all cutting up and making jokes and, well, acting like kids again. :-) Reality hit the fan while we were running the video from our Senior Trip in 1985. The next generation was glued to the TV screen watching everything we did! Now I own a copy of it on DVD. I cringe everytime I see myself in it. How quickly we forget! I guess our teens today don't act as bad as I thought. In fact, I think the next generation learned a thing or two from us. Our prinicpal was driving the bus and I was surprised he let us get away with all of that stuff. He was also our home room teacher. He was a great guy! :-) The Class of 1985 broke the mold and its been downhill ever since. Hey Rick, Your first reunion? They waited 20 yrs? wow. Debra, And still kinda hope to see the school hunk walk by! We had a 5 yr and 10 yr and they talked about a 20 but never got it together. Then it was that we would have it for the 21 yr. Now it has been another couple yrs and nothing. Hopefully they will start planning now and we'll have our 25 in 2009. My high school is no longer a high school. It was made into a middle or jr. high, and may even now be torn down. I'll have to check. My mom had her 50 yr in 2004 and they were the last to be able to tour the high school.
