I have a copy of the itemized undertaker's bill for her funeral expenses and one of the items paid for was "For Paper Notices $5.00". I assume this was for notices in the newspaper(s), although none were specifically mentioned by name. Her name was Clara HIRST (born ECKARD, sometimes spelled as Eckart) the wife of John Grubb HIRST She was born 08 Apr 1869 in Philadelphia PA, dau of John ECKARD and Margaret J. DAVIS She died 30 May 1914 in Philadelphia PA. According to her Death Certificate, her last address was 1250 N. Taney Street. She was buried in Mt. Peace Cemetery. The funeral bill itemizes the use of an auto hearse and 6 carriages. BTW, The total bill for her funeral expenses was $194.00 in 1914.
