    3. It took me a little bit to find it but it was published on July 2, 2009. Rick B --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Richard E. Reed Sr., of Wesley Chapel, Florida, died peacefully on June 21, 2009 after a suffering a stroke. Mr. Reed was 92 years of age and was the devoted husband of Betty C. (nee Grimes) for 70 wonderful years. Mr. Reed was born in Newmanstown, PA on July 19, 1916. He graduated from Newmanstown High School in 1933, and later various technical schools. He served in the U. S. Navy, during WWII from 1943 to 1945, aboard the USS Cabot. Mr. Reed worked for much of his life for the U.S. Air Force, where he progressed from repairing flight instruments to managing the purchasing and support of auto pilots. Before he retired, he transferred to working for the U.S. Navy in a similar capacity. He retired from his civil service career in May, 1971. He and his wife Betty moved to Florida in 1973. His hobbies included a love of animals, singing and composing songs, playing the piano, playing golf and in his later years genealogy. Mr. Reed played golf well, and did extensive research into all of the family names in his and his wife's family tree. He traced Betty's and his antecedents back to the water's edge, eventually accumulating information about approximately 160 ancestors. This extensive research will be donated to the Lebanon County Historical Society. Mr. Reed is survived by his wife Betty C. Reed, his children Richard E. Reed Jr. and his wife June Nazarian-Reed, of Potomac, MD, Robert E. Reed and his wife Sherry L. Reed of Exton, PA, Royal Sanders-James and her husband, Richard James of Tampa, FL, and two sisters, Mary Lou Bergman and Loretta Gromis . He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stephanie M. Reed of Philadelphia, PA, Jonathan R. Reed of West Chester, PA, and Elisabeth Christenson and her husband Daniel Christenson, of Lutz, FL as well as his great granddaughter, Mia Grace Christenson and many nieces and nephews. Miss Mia Grace, daughter of Elisabeth and Daniel, brought him considerable joy in his last year while he was plagued with deteriorating health. Mr. Reed will be laid to rest on July 19, 2009 after a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM, at Millcreek Lutheran Church to be followed by a short graveside service. After the services there will be food and refreshments for all guests at the Millcreek Lutheran Church at about 3:30 PM. Family and all friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gulfside Regional Hospice, New Port Richey, FL. 3. Thank you, Rick. Over the years, I had been working on trying to tie Betty into my family line, but our communications were very few and far between. I'll miss Richard. He was a real treasure.
