I usually cook from scratch as that is much healthier. Mother always did that and canned a lot of fruits and vegetables as we had a very large garden and plenty of veggies. We had some peach trees, my grandpa had apple trees, our neighbor had apricot trees and they did not like apricots so we got them. We also had grapes and elder berries that mom canned. Mom also made all our bread and butter. We got milk from my grandpa and she would skim the cream off and make butter. Of course, I usually got to do the churning. I do make bread, but not butter. I am, however, going to make butter one time to show our grandkids what that is like. We also raised pigs and chickens, and that was a lot of work. Don't think I want to go back to doing that!
