    3. Well, Trish go & get some salt, from Lowe's & spread onto it. You'll be fine, just problem solve as to what to do. Yes, this too, shall pass. Yes, I would imagine your used to the not hardly changing CA weather. My husband was there for 7 years in San Diego, & now I'm in Central FL. Wishing I was with my family in OH, & experiencing the colder weather for the holidays! Hang in there, Cathy ----- Original Message ----- From: Mary Sayman <marysaerie@stny.rr.com> To: padutch-life@rootsweb.com Sent: Tue, 8 Dec 2009 23:56:04 -0500 (EST) Subject: Re: [PD-LIFE] Weather Wow! Trish.... scraping ice is not a good thing. Driving on it is even worse. I really don't mind the snow and cold until it gets bitter, bitter cold and stays that way, or we get the ice like you have now. Treacherous stuff! Sunny, winter days when there is no wind are actually sort of balmy and pleasant. It's when we get all those storms one after the other that continually pile up the snow feet upon feet that really gets to me. I'm glad I don't live in the snow belt. They get snow piled up level with their roofs and can't even see out windows. It's like living in a cave. Imagine having to tunnel out of that. Of course, I'm retired - so to speak - and that means I get to do most of the snow plowing and shoveling. Thankfully, our neighbor, Ed, has volunteered to help us this winter. He and his wife are both in the medical field and work strange hours and so I've always done their driveway, too. Both houses have been through a lot this year, so we have become better friends. When the elderly gentleman across the street was still alive, I would go blow out the end of their drive and then let him do the rest. His widow, Mimi, hires it done for her now that Stanley has passed. If I feel up to it, I do the neighbor's sidewalk on the other side of us, too. The previous neighbor directly across from me used to help, too; but the new owner just takes care of himself and that's it. He is young. The winter days I dislike the most are when it storms hard enough that I have to blow the driveway out two or three times. Every time the road crews go through, they fill up the ends of the driveways. If the stuff is very wet, it nearly takes a chisel to break it loose to be able to move it; and not moving it is not a choice. Ahhhhh...... the joys of snow and winter. I'd be happy to share some of it with all you temperate weathered areas! I'd even attach a gift card! Ha! We had sleet yesterday afternoon and we're looking at another night of about 25F...think I'm going to find another sweater to put on! And I have to second the opinion...keep the snow, we don't know what to do with it, except go visit it, not attempt to drive in it!!!! Nothing personal, but I'm a CA girl...this is crazy!
