Dear Linda, I am so sorry that your father is so ill. Beside the heart attack, your father may have had a stroke which is preventing him from swallowing. That happened to my FIL. He could swallow small amounts of water and ice pops as they melted, but not food. It wasn't until it was too late that they discovered he had had a stroke. Please have them check for that. Like your father, he was pretty much out of it and didn't recognize any one for the most part. Trust in God in this. He will do what is right for you, your father, and your family though you may not agree with it at the time. My prayers are with you and your family. His health has gotten worse since he was admitted, first he had a mild heart attack and now he can no longer swallow even baby food. He will be fed intravenious. The last couple of days, he wasn't even alert enough to know that I was there. I'm bracing myself to the fact that the end is near. He's 88 yrs old.
