    2. Sally, If I remember correctly, you said your birthday is Sunday. You'll have to go to Shady Maple on MONDAY for a free meal ... either breakfast, lunch or dinner. You get a free meal on your birthday only, except when it falls on a Sunday, you get it on Monday ... no exceptions! We LOVE it out that way. We take some back roads and shop at the road side stands from spring to fall. (Prices are cheaper then along main routes also.) We try to get out that way about once a month. We do have intentions to go to Sight and Sound to see Joseph. We see all the shows when they come out. They now have an identical theatre built in Branson, MO that runs similar shows. After one show finishes here, it may open out there. My favorite story of shopping roadside stands happened over 20 years ago. While my husband was buying up a basket of potatoes, I called to him to also buy a basket of apples. The Amish mother talked Dutch to a young child pointing and giving instructions. No hearing, the child asked, "What 3 times?" Then, my husband (having understood the Dutch) said to the child, "Your mother wants you to bring a large bag for the apples!" Well! This mother was astounded that this Englisher in "shorts" no less, had understood what she said. She was all smiles and they conversed for a little while! I've gotten so much mileage out of that story. Wouldn't it be nice if we could pick a time for whoever is able to meet at Shady Maple for a gathering. We only ever had 1 gathering that Aunt Vee coordinated and that was a number of years ago. June In a message dated 3/7/2010 7:39:01 P.M. I am in the background taking it all in. But nothing makes me happier to just spend time there. I have brought so many of my girlfriends to Amish Co. Now we all go for a Christmas Shopping weekend in November.. I will do anything to get there!!! I draged my best girlfriend there and now she is so hooked she makes her sister come from Florida to meet us every October. Have you noticed that I get there about once a month!! OK I won't bore you anymore. I am going to watch the beautiful dresses on the Oscars Red Carpet. Have a good evening. 3. Has any one been to the Christmas Museum? It's actually the National Christmas Center Museum and Family Attraction on Lincoln Highway (Route 30) going East out of Lancaster in Paradise. It is an amazing place that steps back in time. They actually have a JJ Newbury store set up with all the toys and decorations and anything and everything one can imagine from as many as 75 years ago. There were many, many items that brought back memories of my childhood. Dale and I spent about two hours taking the tour. It is a fabulous place with many displays from all over the world. They even take you back to the cobble stone streets of Jerusalem. Here is their website: www.nationalchristmascenter.com. It is well worth the price of the $11 admission.
