    3. Happy to hear such good news about your husband. It is warm here 68 but the leaves are changing. sherry --- On Tue, 10/20/09, Mary Sayman <marysaerie@stny.rr.com> wrote: From: Mary Sayman <marysaerie@stny.rr.com> Subject: [PD-LIFE] Hello To: padutch-life@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, October 20, 2009, 1:33 PM Hello, Everyone. I wonder how many of us are still here on this list.  I go out to FB, but still don't really like it all that well.  I find it to be too cluttered with all the messages that come through from all my friends and family. Let's face it, there are just some conversations I don't want to know about, let alone follow the threads.  It can be overwhelming to sort through it all.  I don't want to block them because then I would have no messages.  I guess it is one of those 'darned if you do, and darned if you don't' kinds of things. My husband, Dale "Mike" Walters has made amazing progress recovering from his open-heart surgery.  The doctors are all pleased.  He is frustrated because he can't go back to work yet, but that will all come in due time. We'll know mid-November after some tests whether or not they will install a defibrillator.  The cardiologist seems to think the answer will be no, that he doesn't need it.  In the first quarter next year, they will determine when to clean out his carotids.    We have had 22° temps in the morning with heavy frost, followed by 68° afternoon temps.  Today it is a bit cooler, there is a wind, and it is overcast.  We are supposed to attend an outdoor wedding (Dale is best man) on Saturday, but I am hoping they make an early decision to have it indoors. We'll see what happens. Happy Fall, Everyone. 3. I too made red cabbage tonight---a good "german" recipe from a friend. Cabbage, apples, onions, cider vinegar, cloves, all spice, salt, a little oil and boil & simmer! 3. Boy does that sound good. I am going to make some pickled eggs tomorrow. I remember mom making them and haven't had them in years. I made some the other day and they sure were good. I am also going to teach my grand daughter how to make butter. I am going to try to find an old churn (crank type) and make it that way. I think I know where I can find one in a ranch supply store near here. Don in AZ

    3. How do you make your pickled eggs? I make them frequently for my husband and only use white vinegar and beet juice. But I'm open to suggestions...
