Just wanted to throw out my family names to see if I can link up with any of you...there are a lot as in every family but the main ones are: BOWYER (BOYER) (BOWERS)...supposedly English not German RATLIFF(RATCLIFF) (English) BROOKS DOWDY CARTER ALLEN TAYLOR (back to President Zachary Taylor) SHUCK (SHOUGH) TUTWILLER (TEDWILLER) & OTHER VARIANTS FLEISHMAN DESKINS CLAYPOOL (CLAYPOOLE) (CLEYPOLE) Claypool was the first family to settle west of the Applachian Mountains in Hardy County, VA, also led Claypool's Rebellion in VA ARBAUGH OSBORN (OSBORNE) GLENN & POSSIBLY YOUNG WITH THE GLENN, BUT NOT PROVEN. WHITE...BACK TO ABEDNEGO WHITE OF PRINCE WILLIAM, MD. If anyone has any of these names in your line, please let me know. I am also trying to find information about Sir Edmond Bowyer, was part of The London Company that funded the Jamestown Settlement and came to America with Capt. Smith. We cannot link Sir Edmond for about 3 or 4 generations to Michael Bowyer who married Frances Kate Carpenter, and who was the original land owner for the property where The Greenbrier Resort is located. There was a Bowyer's Tavern there, and Michael Bowyer, Jr. is noted as being a descendant of Sir Edmond, but we cannot make the connections of Sir Edmond to his father, Michael Bowyer. There is also a Philip Bowyer in Dunsmore, VA married to Elizabeth ? and we cannot find info about him other than the fact that he and Elizabeth, on some of the records were listed as Bowers.
