    3. Well, I know when I went over to the Laural Mountains, I caught I-79 right outside of Pittsburgh & had a nice trip over to I-70 to Rt. 31. It was a good 3 1/2 hours! And only 2 1/2 hours coming back somehow, but it was a beautiful day too! Or maybe it just seemed to take less time. And the plus was I got home before dark. My daughter sure was glad to eat! Driving takes allot out of ya, doesn't it! I always wanted to travel as an occupation, but it'd be harder than I thought! This trip I drove the most I ever have had to do, but at least I picked a good time to do it!! Well, I was off by about 30 minutes!!? There was approximately 30 feet of road surface on my route that is not currently under construction.? And holy freaking cow--did I completely forget about the congestion on Route 30 between York and Lancaster!!? > > (But Lynn--I did wave as I drove past the exit for Columbia! :o) > > What is interesting about this particular stretch of road is, in neither direction do they tell you how far apart these two cities are.? Once you follow the instructions for "this way to Lancaster" or "this way to York" there is not a single sign saying how many miles away either one of them is.? I thought that was weird. > > But yes--the congestion between those two cities!!? It about shredded my last nerve.? But then, just when you think your blood pressure will boil over, you get to the bridge across the Susquehanna and your breath is just completely taken away.? What an indescribably beautiful sight that is.? The Susquehanna is so broad and calm that if you didn't know what it was, you might think you were crossing a lake. > > I got some great buys at the Lancaster outlets, and stopped at the Gettysburg outlets on my way back.? I experienced a pretty fierce thunderstorm in Lancaster around 1:00 pm, but almost as soon as I left the city limits it was clear blue sky the whole way home. > > Driving Route 30 is always one of my favorite things to do, and with the exception of that stretch between Lancaster and York, it was a great trip. > > Once you get on the other side of Chambersburg, Route 30 is just about sheer bliss the whole way to Greensburg, where it gets congested again. > > But between Chambersburg and Greensburg, it's nothing but gloriously rural, verdant, rolling Pennsylvania hills?and the open road, which is nicely challenging to drive!? The section between Bedford and Ligonier is especially great, but unfortunately I pretty much have to invent a reason to drive it :o( > > --Debra? > > > -----Original Message----- > From: John Keiper <jdkjak@webtv.net> > To: padutch-life@rootsweb.com > Sent: Fri, 17 Aug 2007 8:05 am > Subject: Re: [PD-LIFE] America's Ride > > > > thanks debra for the back ground info on the bikers travelling on route > 30 by pass > just below our house and garden. > > as we write, you are probably tooling toward lancaster county. the cold > front that was to have brought us some relief this morning will arrive > toward noon. > > shazam & HAPPY MOTORING > > John & Joyce Keiper > >From the "situation room", Bedford, Penna. 15522 > at: coventry cottage > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to PADUTCH-LIFE-request@rootsweb.com > with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of > the message > > > ________________________________________________________________________ > AOL now offers free email to everyone.
