"Keep Looking Up!".... the signature closing line of Jack Horkheimer's originally named "Star Hustler" and now renamed "Star Gazer" program on PBS. Just a bit of trivia... Wonder why the show was renamed? Because of the Internet of course! When people, especially children, began accessing the Star Hustler site by using a search engine, STAR HUSTLER was not the HUSTLER they got to link to...so, after some upset folks wrote to them calling attention to the situation they realized that like it or not, the word Hustler didn't have the same connotation as it did when the show began over two decades ago. I'm old and set in my ways, so it will always be "Star Hustler" to me. The light show we saw last night was due to a passing thunderstorm, so no meteor shower for me. I remember when I was a kid, my friends and I would all spawl out at the picnic table in the backyard watching the annual meteor shower. Some years it looked like the sky was falling and the end of the world was nigh! These days I live in the suburbs and even without the thunderstorm...if we would have had a clear cloudless new moon night, I still wouldn't have seen much. Most of the neighbors have motion security lights installed and most are at a setting so that they will turn on if a firefly flits by. Talk about light pollution! Karen from Berks
Well listen, if a meteor shower is such a sight to behold; why doesn't some astronomophile record one and put it on the internet? I would like to see one. I never have, In ninety-one years, not a single one. A few shooting stars (no, not John Wayne) but no shower, not even a sprinkle.
