Oh, Mike and I could trade some stories!!? We seem to have exactly the same kind of luck.? I totally sympathize!? My absolute favorites are the people who chug along at least 10 mph below the speed limit, but then suddenly find their gas pedal just in time to speed through a changing red light, but not fast enough for me to get through, too.??Or the people who pull out in front of you at 90 mph only to go 10 mph once they are actually on the road, and then turn left 20 feet later, and of course you have to wait for a parade of 9000 cars to go by before the person can turn left......and this is becoming a dangerous train of thought. But speaking of --one other thing from today:? there were some appalling breaches of etiquette going on at the town circles today!!? I thought everyone understood the system for taking your turn.? I have never seen this happen on this scale before--I don't know if all the inconsiderate people arrived at the same time or if it was just a large bunch of people who had never seen a circle before and genuinely didn't know what to do.? Either way--very annoying! On the microwave note, your story below made me realize my parents are still on the first and only microwave they ever bought.? I have no idea how old that thing is!? It has got to be about 25 years old--I'll have to ask them!? But then they have extremely good luck with appliances--they'll be married 40 years in September and are only on their second refrigerator. --Debra -----Original Message----- From: Lynn Vondran <lynnvondran@att.net> To: padutch-life@rootsweb.com Sent: Fri, 17 Aug 2007 11:22 pm Subject: [PD-LIFE] Microwaves and Road Trips I tried to get Mike to take that road to work, because of him complaining a lot about Rt. 30. I said it's better on the nerves to take that road. So, one day he tried it, and sure enough he got behind someone going 25 miles an hour :o) I never have that_I always have smooth sailing on that road. Seems everytime we went to eat at Eat 'n Park on the East side of York, WITH MIKE DRIVING, a VERY slow, slow driver, constantly on the brake for no reason at all except maybe fluffing hair, or talking on a cell phone would get in front of us, and stay there all the way to the place where we could finally pass. When I drive, he warns me that at this exit or that road it's very bad driving and you can never get over easily, or you get behind the slow drivers_but, remember, I'm driving, and the roadway opens up, with hardly anyone on it, and I get over, or through, with ease :o) He gets so funny then, and says something about it's because I'm driving and he isn't_! and can't believe it was a breeze for me, and why does it always have to be when he is driving that we get all the weird drivers around us. Well, when you got it, you got it, as the saying goes. :o) Lynn Debra wrote: I don't blame you for buying the cheap microwaves--I can't believe you've had to buy that many!? But that sure was an impressive storm--so weird how it seemed to be centered over Lancaster.? The roads were completely dry on the other side of town. I have to give Weather.com credit for nailing that one--they called for a t-storm in Lancaster at 1:00, and that's exactly what happened! ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to PADUTCH-LIFE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. Yes, my dear old (very cheap at the time, since the microwaves have come down in price) Gold Star lasted over 20 years_but, these new things, even the Gold Stars of today, just don't seem to last. Maybe I'm too clean with my appliances? The worst of them was the very expensive Panasonic. I was very disappointed in that one. For the very small appliances, when I was a young adult, everytime I would clean them, they were guarenteed not to work anymore. I'm almost afraid to get a new mixer. I haven't used Mom's old Sunbeam, except once, in so long a time, I don't want to break it. It doesn't do the kind of mixing I need these days, like cookie dough, or bread dough (I like kneading by hand, though), and I like mixing my cookie dough by hand_but my arm gets really bad when I do these things anymore. I must tell you, Debra, that Mike kept saying, yes, yes, yes, and you left him laughing, because it's the same story you would trade with him :o) LOL!!!!! The etiquette is still alive in Maytown, at the circle there. Of course it is still very Mom and Pop as far as I can tell, when I travel to the Vet's office. I've never had a problem with it, but then again :o) ......... Thanks for the laugh from Mike, this morning :o) He related to your driving story all the way!!! Well, better start getting ready for Storytime at the home!! Then get back to making my mother-in-law's birthday dinner for tomorrow. :o) Lynn Debra wrote: Oh, Mike and I could trade some stories!!?
