    3. They were either read or posted, I guess on the church door. My very old fashioned husband had ours read out in the church where we were to be married for the 3 weeks before our wedding and that was only 12 years ago. Now that wedding is a whole other story. We drove from West Virginia to The Bronx where his best friend was a pastor. The weather was fine on the way up and the day before, but the morning of the wedding there was suddenly a foot of snow on the ground. Needless to say, not many people got there for the ceremony, mostly my matron of honor and his best man. My late husbands father who was in his upper 80s at the time got there before us and shoveled the church steps because the janitor couldn't get there and he just happened to have a shovel in his trunk. ...Just one adventure after another around here...
