That bowled me over -- I never thought of turtles having compassion. Wow, thanks for the education. Eeeewe! The chicken thing was the last straw. I don't dare open any more list e-mail for a while. I have 5 pet turtles, most of which have been rescued. I would never dream of harming an animal. A while ago when one of my turtles got sick, another one kept pacing back and forth with a piece of food in its mouth and was trying to feed and nurse the sick one back to health. They have such amazing personalities. Last week Lucky was acting a bit sluggish, and the others took turns comforting him and lifting him to the surface of the water, for air and food. He is fine now. He is named Lucky because my friend's daughter saw him in a parking lot, about to get run over, (he was only a couple inches long) and she flagged down the driver and saved the poor little guy, knowing I would take care of him. Fortunately, nobody has to die for us to eat. The earth is full of wonderful, healthful foods that don't require death of animals and critters, and those foods extend our lives instead of shortening them. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to PADUTCH-LIFE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
