I know he said it's Neuropathy Neuropathy was what Auntie Vee had in her legs and feet that made walking difficult. In her case, the cause was nerve damage from years of smoking, etc. You most commonly see it as a result of uncontrolled diabetes--and the damage it causes. 3. I wonder what caused Uncle Milt's then, because he NEVER smoked, and doesn't have Diabetes. Is there any other cause for this disease? Thanks Joan for the explanation you gave. :o) Lynn Joan wrote: Neuropathy was what Auntie Vee had in her legs and feet that made walking difficult. 3. My wife has peripheral neuroposy so severe that she had to quit driving. Her feet are so numb she can't feel the foot pedals. Her feet would slide off the brake and accelerator. She exercised good judgment by quitting before she had a collision. Only trouble is I now spend a lot of time at the hairdresser. Following is an excerpt from http://www.epodiatry.com/neuropathy.htm Peripheral neuropathy is a relatively common neurological disorder that results from damage to the peripheral nerves. The peripheral nervous system consists of motor (to help move) nerves and sensory (to help feel) nerves. Either or both sets of nerves can be affected in neuropathy. If a sensory nerve is damaged, the predominant symptoms are pain, numbness, tingling, burning or a loss of feeling. They often begin gradually. There may be a tingling sensation or numbness that starts in the toes and/or the balls of the feet and spreads upward. Occasionally the skin may become so sensitive that the slightest touch is agonizing. There may also may be a numbness, or a complete lack of feeling in the feet. This describes my wife's symptoms. My brother has it due to kidney dialysis. tracy ____________________________________________________________________________________ Boardwalk for $500? In 2007? Ha!
