Well, weren't you from OH too, Tracy? That's exactly how we ate too, with grilled cheese & soup. I remember tomato soup too, when I was little. I remember allot of mushroom soup too! Chicken noodle, mostly Campbells. Wasn't any other soup other than Lipton, & would when I was older to make my own sometimes eat Mrs. Grass's soup & add my own noodles! Couldn't have soup with out the sandwich. Can't remember if Mom used milk or water but the toasted cheese was either cut in "butterflies" or 3rd's. 3rd's is how I still do it to this day when I make toasted cheese. tracy --- On Thu, 1/22/09, eppleys wrote: When I was a kid, my mother made tomato soup with milk and added hard boiled eggs to it, don't remember that I particularly liked it but anytime I ever complained I would get, " you don't know what's good." ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
Oh I do love this site. I find myself sitting here at my computer with a smile on my face, one thought leads to another and fond memories pop into my mind. Sometimes I shed a tear or two but it is a happy tear (which are the best) because I am thinking of happy things and a by=gone era. I am from New Jersey and we always had tomoato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. Sometimes we would put some Shredded Cheese or pieces of left over bacon crumpled up, or leftover veggies, I think mom was cleaning out the refrigerator on Friday night! Hugs to you all.
