Yes, I've heard that expression & yes, I always eat crackers in my soup, almost wouldn't eat soup-except maybe chicken noodle, without crackers. I had some mushroom yesterday & yes, there were lots of crackers! I also had peanut butter crackers too, to accompany the other stuff.
