To be "speedy" VISTA needs 3 or 4 GIGs RAM. If he has that and it still is slow--I'd check into whatever anti-virus software he is using--it might be causing the slowdown. I find VISTA MUCH faster than XP but then I have much more RAM than I did when using XP too. VISTA offers that nifty sidebar where you can add a systems resources monitor and that can show you how much of a drain your programs have on the system which can help you figure out what is slowing things down.
