    2. To be "speedy" VISTA needs 3 or 4 GIGs RAM. If he has that and it still is slow--I'd check into whatever anti-virus software he is using--it might be causing the slowdown. I find VISTA MUCH faster than XP but then I have much more RAM than I did when using XP too. VISTA offers that nifty sidebar where you can add a systems resources monitor and that can show you how much of a drain your programs have on the system which can help you figure out what is slowing things down. Joan PS: I was terrified of VISTA before I got this computer last April but it didn't take me long to adapt and prefer it to XP--but I had SP1 installed from the get go.
