Connie- XP will also be "gone" in the sense that new technology comes along all the time and is under development. VISTA isn't being "dropped" and won't be "gone" -- it will just eventually become outdated technology--remember Windows 3.1? How far we've come from DOS and Windows 3.1! And we'll keep having newer and better technology in the future. Joan In a message dated 1/16/2009 12:14:26 P.M. Ever the planned obsolescence so we consume more products.? Hate being manipulated like that.? Connie
Matter of opinion.? Newer does not always mean better.?Just because something is changed does not make it better, either.?? I know of a few computer programmers and technicians who tell me of the problems and none, so far, are happy with Vista.? My husband was in the electronics business most of his life.? As I said.? Matter of opinion.? Just like with Beta and VHS.? The best ones do not always win. Yep, that's the way most people feel, Connie. But, Mike siad the same thing Joan said, that VISTA is not going away, just having an update called Windows 7, that doesn't amount to much more than better graphics, or something like that. He wishes it would be an update to make it faster, instead. These changes drive people nuts, who work on the technical end of the computer. It's probably fine for some folks who are just users of the product, except that when it changes, it usually means that they will have to upgrade again and again_a vicious cycle. But, we are a people of constant change, for the better or for the worst :o) I just can't see changing a good product, for no reason, or not much of a reason. It IS GREAT reoccurring revenue, I guess. We have a cousin who LOVES Vista, also. So there are people who do like it, but I don't know many. For the rest, well, it's just another operating system to learn and adapt what you have to it. Just like the changing of the DVDs, where Blue Ray won the battle. UGH!!!!!!!! Oh well. Oh, I'll be doing the sending of THE MANUAL tomorrow, or Sunday. Mike decided to work tonight instead of tomorrow. Signing off for the night. Stay warm everyone in those frigid areas of the world!!!! Warm Hugs from Columbia! Gotta run! Hmmm, that would keep me warm, running :o) Lynn PS Joan, did we ever decided on the best cheese soup? Remember that a few years ago! Boy, would a bowl of cheese soup taste great about now! PPS We found a grocery store about 16 minutes away from our house, in Mt. Joy, where it doesn't stink_you can actually smell the foods, and it isn't too much more expensive than Redners was!!!! AND, it has some of the things that I could only get at Redners_so I am a happy camper now! It's a SurFine (sp?) store, which is what Mussers is_Mussers is the store taking over where our Redners was_so, I am hoping that I can take the new store moving in. If I can't, we can hop over Chiques (on 441) to Darankamps (on 230) (sp?). I really like the store! Seems to have very friendly people working there, also.
