I think you just echoed many of our voices about this site.? I also love to read the stories.? Don't always share them, and maybe I should.? The tomato soup had toasted cheese sandwiches as they then provided the protein and carb for a meal along with the veggie.? A complete meal with dairy also, if milk was used.? I find myself sitting here at my computer with a smile on my face, one thought leads to another and fond memories pop into my mind. Sometimes I shed a tear or two but it is a happy tear (which are the best) because I am thinking of happy things and a by=gone era. I am from New Jersey and we always had tomoato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. Sometimes we would put some Shredded Cheese or pieces of left over bacon crumpled up, or leftover veggies, I think mom was cleaning out the refrigerator on Friday night! Hugs to you all. When young, if I was never allowed anything like that, you can be sure it was made with water.? You know, thrifty.? Milk was to drink or used in special cooking.? Not used where water would do.?
