See, I find it so facinating how some have had these experiences, being from that background & even nowadays it draws you back,June Rose, by going to auctions or you just go back by having friends that share that! I wish you would share that with your relatives, Mary, so you can be open with them, & share your past, so when it's your time, they'll know to keep it for posterity. Yes, having those sacks, I would want to use the material, & be creative, back then, do you know if they still sell bags like that. I think they're more water proof maybe, from little experience from the 1960's, I know they've been using bags of that nature, so they can expell moisture, perhaps for the protection of the feed. Anyone know!? Curtains and towels were also made from the bags. For several years now, while attending auctions in Berks County, we've seen piles of fed bags (about 10-12) being sold for up to $100 and more. You just gave me a good idea, Cathy. I think what I will do is make provisions for certain things to go to a cousin I have never met. We 'talk' all the time on the computer. He is an avid genealogist and keeps our family records to share with whoever is interested. I'll have to ask him if he'd like to have them down the road a piece. Thank you.
