    2. This is one of the things that Lynn and I talked about before. I'm VERY certain of what was the trigger for me as to my weird form of asthma. It was years ago when they put MTBE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether) as an additive in gasoline supposedly to cut down on air pollution! The asthma specialist claimed at the time that it couldn't possibly have caused my problem--but over the years they have learned more, and the substance is now banned -- after the damage was done to many people! If you Google MTBE and side effects or even just MTBE you will learn what a serious problem was created when this chemical was quietly (with no public announcement) added to gasoline in some parts of the country. They have long since discontinued its use but once it served as a trigger for medical issues the affected people suffer the consequences for life. Oh yes...and they are now finding that MTBE leeched from the underground gas tanks and has now seeped into the ground water and is in our WATER SUPPLY in many parts of the country. Officials admit they have no clue at this point what the long-term effects are from MTBE in water. I even had my asthma specialist (make that FORMER asthma specialist) admit he was wrong and he told me he didn't want to think it could cause any harm because he had heavily invested in MTBE! Sheesh! Talk about conflict of interest. Joan In a message dated 1/28/2009 12:52:07 P.M. Wait and see_one day they will all of a sudden_after billions and billions of dollars of research (as they are starting to do now with cosmetics) discover that the 1,500 poisonous chemicals used in our everyday products really are the problems causing cancer, the rise in childhood asthma, severe migraines, and many other medical mysteries, and situations. Hope it is in my lifetime, so I can look folks in the eyes and just give 'em a little wink :o) LOL!!!!!!

    3. Good for you, Joan!!!! That was quite an accomplishment getting your one doctor to admit to the other he was wrong. Mike and I always say that there is a GREAT money making, that we don't know about, like kickbacks, and all other kinds of under the table exchanges going on in the drug industry, as well as most manufacturing. They will never do anything about it all, because too much money would be lost_as industry would come to a halt. :o) Lynn PS I just now watched a report that alli is the ONLY over the counter drug for dieting that is approved by the FDA, because others have Carcinogens in them, at levels not regulated.
