Yes, our last computer was like that , I never backed up the pictures, & when something happened I took it to our local computer place, & he said he couldn't retrieve my pictures, I was heartbroken. Can you all tell me what to do? Someone has sent me a CD, but don't know how to put pictures onto a CD, & even had other things on there as well. I'm getting many things on this computer, & yes, I've got XP & haven't had any trouble so to speak with it, Lynn. Isn't Vista on laptops? Yes, My daughter has one too, as of a couple months ago, so finally getting alittle experience with one, which is pretty cool, though, haven't had the chance for much experience, because she's not living at home, & doesn't bring it home either that I'm able to fuss with it much! Someday! And yes, I'm having coffee now, & am wired now. I usually only have a couple if that a day, & have had three cups too. They're saying 10 degrees in Nashville, TN I assume, & we're getting to have wind chill for us too, here in Central GL. Noon supposed to be only 50, but wind chill overnight, supposed to be highs in the 50's, friday highs supposed to be 58, which is pretty much COLD for us here in Central FL. Glad that I've got a warm winter coat for my baby for running around tomorrow! Glad those people all made it out of that plane this afternoon. That's pilor certainly was the hero if you ask me! Anyone know him, offer him some Disney World tickets! Yes, I did have a surge protector, but I did hear on tv some time ago that they don`t always work. Then, when I bought my new computer, the guy told me that there are different "powers" (or what ever you call it) of them. He suggested that I pick out a middle range one. Who knows just what I had that didn`t work. Hopefully, both of my printers are okay. I haven`t been able to try them out yet....however, they both turn on which is more than what my computer did. I was able to put in some programs that I loved in my windows xp, but they work different in Vista. I will get used to using it, before long I will forget how much I liked my XP.....(maybe if I tell myself and everyone else that....I will actually believe it too!!!!) Seriously though, it isn`t nearly as bad as I though it would be. I bought myself one of those Kuerig coffee makers. They are wonderful !!! I have to have only decaf. It makes a great cup of coffee!!! It is very cold here in south central PA....exspecially in an older house....where it is only 62 in the house when I get up....thankfully, we have a ceramic heater and also turn on the oven to get it a bit warmer in here. Lots of blankets on my bed and of course it helps to have cats that like to sleep with me and help keep me warm too!!! I will give someone else a chance to talk now....how bout passing some pie over to me now??? ~~~Linda~~~ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lynn Vondran" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 15, 2009 10:17 PM Subject: Re: [PD-LIFE] let`s have coffee > Hi Linda, > Wish we would have thought to order my laptop with XP, instead of Vista. > With what I do, I don't like it, but, after a while, I'm sure it will be > okay. WOW!!!!!! You people in OHIO be very careful IF you go out!!! We just got an email from Mike's one aunt saying that they had -14 natural degrees this morning with a wind chill factor of -33. The dogs paws freeze when they go out, and aren't even out for more than a potty break. That's cold!!!! They are expecting a high of zero today. Take care all you Ohioans! Hope you are hunkering down for the day! or two, or three???? for the winter? Warm hugs from Columbia_no, it's not warm here, but a lot warmer than you are. :o) Lynn PS Mary be very careful today, in your traveling!
Hi Cathy, I would imagine that system is in any kind of computer, or am I wrong on that? I can't see Bill Gates just making it for laptops only. It's like someone said, we'll eventually get use to it, but it certainly did change the way my scanner works_I REALLY don't like that, and will only use the scanner on the XP that Mike now has. That was my old computer. Better keep moving here. We are looking for a grocery store, today. Cathy, you better send very warm hugs back to your folks in Ohio! :o) Lynn
