Hi Connie, Maybe I'll have to start going there again. Does this Petrocarbo stink at all? I haven't been at the Eastern Market in a couple years, eventhough it's right around the nest corner from Wal-mart. So Fuller Brush even has Vanilla? Do they have a dish soap, by any chance. I have to look for a new dish soap, AGAIN. Can't find one I can use. Unless someone on the list knows where I can get Home Best, or Home Life dish soap. I've searched online, to order a case of it, but I can't find it anywhere, doing a GOOGLE search. If anyone knows where to get it, please let me know. I have found it's the only one out there on the market that I can use, without my breathing passage slamming shut on me. Before Redners closed, here in Columbia, they were going to order in some of the orange colored (anti-bacterial, NOT orange smelling) Home Life, which the manager of the store said Home Best had changed their name to. But, alas, they closed before the order went through. I only have two bottles of it left, and will run out in a few months. Thanks! :o) Lynn PS Also, Connie, I use to know the hours of the Eastern Market, but I can't remember them. Do you happen to know when they open and close, and on what days, or are they only open Fridays, anymore? In addition to using Bag Balm, I also use pure Aloe Vera gel on my hands and feet. It is a good moisturizer. I used to have an Aloe Vera plant in the back yard, but the dogs kind of killed it for me. You could cut part of a leaf off and rub the sap on your body for a refresher. Don in AZ
I remember the Aloe Vera parties, just like Tupperware parties. They were quite interesting. I went to only one, but it was really good. I have an Aloe plant in my kitchen. I tend to kill them, but really like having them, for cuts, burns and moisturizers. It's a very good, natural healing plant, for sure. I have to laugh. I kill them, and our dear old neighbor who moved to TN, from across the street, use to have SO many every year, he would have at least 20 or more repotted plants on his porch for anyone to take. Of course, every year, I would need another one. I still have ONE of those plants, but it is holding on for dear life. I kill spider plants, too, something that so many people told me were so easy to keep_not me :o( I like Aloe, but the last Aloe I bought, had a scent to it. I haven't bought any since. I should try to buy some again, someday. I used a lot of Corn Husker's Lotion at one time in my life. Wonder if they still sell that? :o) Lynn Don wrote: > In addition to using Bag Balm, I also use pure Aloe Vera > gel on my hands and feet. It is a good moisturizer. Lynn, I just found a Life Tree soap that looks like it might fit your bill. Here is the link for you to look at: http://housekeeping.about.com/od/productreviews/gr/Lifetreedish.htm Mary -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Lynn Vondran Sent: Saturday, January 24, 2009 9:59 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [PD-LIFE] Fuller Brush/Eastern Market/Dish Soap Hi Connie, Maybe I'll have to start going there again. Hi Mary, Thanks, Mary. Just saw they have the Method brand, also, listed at this website. My cousins Gary and Vicki are going to get me some and bring it next time they come for a visit. Vicki said that we can get it at Target, so on our York shopping trip, we will just have to stop in there. Maybe we should anyway, to see what all they have, since we are looking for other products we can't get anymore, because of Redners closing in our area. Maybe they handle this Life Tree product, also. I've tried other environmentally safe products, but had to give them to Lindsey, because they caused my breathing passage to slam shut. But, just MAYbe, if the citrus smell isn't a perfumy citrus sort of smell, I'll have my dish soap!!!! As long as the smell doesn't last longer than doing the dishes, and doesn't stay in my dish cloth, or soak into my dish pan, I'll be okay with it. It's whatever they put into the products, that enhances the smells, and makes them SOAK into everything around them, including food stuff, like people's flours, sugars, salts, baking sodas, and walls, I'll be okay. I really need to smell it, and walk away from it for a while, before just buying it. Some things don't effect me for a few hours_those are the hardest to figure out, because I have to think of every place I was, and every thing that I was in contact with, then_oh, it's just a big old headache. We usually go through about $100 before we find something I can use again. I should just go back to the Shaklee Get Green dish soap. But, that's $8.95 a small bottle, and with shipping and handling that little bottle cost over $18. Mike said not to worry about it, if it's going to keep me alive; but, I do worry, because what happens if he would lose his job, or something would happen to him? I know, I'm just a miser, but I still say there have to be products out there that aren't so invasive into ones skin, and surroundings, that don't cost an arm and a leg. Everytime I find something like that, they either don't handle it in the stores anymore, or discontinue manufacturing the stuff altogether. That's why, when I do find something I can use, we buy it up, and try to get enough to last me a year or more. Thanks for looking around for this, Mary. Maybe we'll order some and give it a try. I still have a bottle of my Shaklee Get Green, but am saving that for those really bad days. Oh, if you all haven't played Apples to Apples, buy it, get some folks together, and play it. Guaranteed it will make you laugh so hard!!!! We played it yesterday, when my cousin and his wife were here. Rick, I was just thinking, if you and your parents ever get this way again, we'll have to have Gary and Vicki here, and play that game. We laughed so hard, it hurt! But, as they say, laughter is the best medicine!!! In fact, laughter is the only medicine I take. Keeps you young!!! I still feel like I'm 18. I just told Mike that I don't know why I feel like time is getting away from me. After all, I gave up all my volunteer work, except for what I can do from home, and I still don't have time in my day for sitting still for very long. I asked him if it's just that I'm moving slower, and all he did was laugh hysterically. He said, "Honey, why do you think my head is going to fall off one of these days!!!! It's because you are ALways in motion doing something. No, you haven't slowed down. You' ve just found so much more to take up that time_that SPARE time you were GOING to have once you stopped everything :o)" So, I guess I'm not slowing down, but just doing things that take longer to see results? Well, better get moving here. Have a GREAT week! I am so happy that I have my Internet back!!! I was actually lost without it these two days, and hardly sat down at all, except to eat yesterday and and play Apples to Apples. Guess Mike likes when people visit, because I at least sit still for a little. And, now that we have the coffee maker, well, I sat still longer than normal!!!! AND, I found a meal that keeps me still, when company is here_a SPAGHETTI DINNER!!!!!!!! Usually I am serving everyone while they are eating, and don't sit still enough during the meal to enjoy it with our visitors. Though, I think I sat still for that Moist 'n' Crispy Chicken dinner, didn't I cousin Rick! or was I up and down then, too? By the way, CUZ, are you getting my emails lately? Haven't heard from you in a while. I know two other people haven't been getting them, and I've answered their emails, every time they come through_guess I haven't been getting theirs, either. Did I say I better get moving :o) GREAT week, and love the postings!!!! Hugs from Columbia! :o) Lynn Mary wrote: > Lynn, > I just found a Life Tree soap that looks like it might fit your bill. > Here > is the link for you to look at: > http://housekeeping.about.com/od/productreviews/gr/Lifetreedish.htm
Hi Lynn, I have not been to market for a while, due to the cement floors and the traffic congestion.? Bill usually goes in and shops for specifics while I wait in the car.? The last I knew, Fuller Brush was there.? An older man had a small space with articles on display.? All sorts of food seasonings, including vanilla, almond extract, etc.? As far as dish soap goes, not sure I have heard of what you use.? Are any of the 'green' products of any help?? BJ's and the like?? Have you asked at Saubles or Giant to look for what you need?? Local Mom and Pops?? Just brain storming.? The best I can remember about times for the Market is on Fridays.? I think they open at 9.? Seem to remember earlier in the summer.? We went one Sat and the booths we wanted to shop at weren't open. Not a big success from what I could tell so not sure if they still do that or not.??? Petrocarbo has a slight medicinal odor as I am sure it comes from the carbolic acid used?as the active ingredient.??Hope this helps.?Connie? -----Original Message----- From: Lynn Vondran <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sat, 24 Jan 2009 9:58 pm Subject: [PD-LIFE] Fuller Brush/Eastern Market/Dish Soap Hi Connie, Maybe I'll have to start going there again. LOL!!!!!!! Thanks Connie! I'll just have to sniff it out, as I have to with everything else, and hope that the smells in the stores/markets don't overpower the smell of the product. Usually that happens, then when I get it home, it's way too powerful for me. We'll have to skip by there, next time we are over that way. Never heard of Saubles? Giant is a store that for some reason I can't shop in. I loved going to Darrenkamp's, but the plastic bags they use are dangerous for me, so we unpacked them, and threw them out in the trash right away. I am still swollen from the plastic bags. We'll ask them for all paper next time we go. The smell of the bags actually got onto the groceries. But, I kept the groceries on the kitchen table for a while, before putting them away, and some I wiped down, also, or repackaged, if the outside kept the smell of the bags in them. So, I know where SOME of the smell comes from (the plastic bags) in these stores, though you couldn't smell it anywhere else in Darrenkamp's, and I'm sooooo thankful for that. I can use Carmex for these rashes I get out of no where, it seems_but I would like to get away from the constant use of it. So, maybe this other stuff, between the Aloe, and Petrocarbo, I'll be able to slow down on the Carmex. It's good, but I don't like to use it on my hands. Just wish I could find another place that sells Mrs. Weaver's Bees Wax, again. Forry's, in Silver Spring, doesn't handle it anymore. Maybe I can get Darrenkamp's to order it in for me, since they have Mrs. Weaver's Honey. Now, there is a thought! I love the fact that it is natural_jarred on the farm, in Middletown, just up the river from us. Maybe I should just go to the farm, huh :o) Middletown is near 3-Mile-Island :o) I gotta get moving here_said that a few messages ago, didn't I? Have to go to my in-laws' today, to celebrate mine, and my brother-in-law's birthdays. Be back later. Thanks for all the help with product searching everyone! We always take our cotton bags with handles.? I bought them a long time ago from a catalogue. I pack my own bags when I can.? That way, it is efficient and no need for any of theirs.?
