    3. Thanks Rick for posting to the List for all to see. I was severely shocked to see the subject line as my email opened! I kinda feel bad that we did not know sooner. Does anyone have his, or now Betty's, address? I really would like to send a card. Oh, guess it has always been Betty's address to and Richard's will be different now. Wonder if we sent it to 1 Heaven's Way if he'd get it?? :-)   tracy   --- On Wed, 1/6/10, Rick wrote: It took me a little bit to find it but it was published on July 2, 2009. 3. Kathy,    I am stunned and appalled to learn the courts will not doing anything for your daughter or the grandkids safety! I wonder if she told her divorce attorney (and had them ask the judge to stop visitation) about this incident and that the child has access to the handgun and uses it, if it would make a difference?    I think, here in Florida, you have to have guns locked up and handguns have to have trigger locks if there are children in the house.    I'm flabbergast at the stupidity some people show in this country. How can the courts NOT side with your daughter and the SAFETY of the children?? I will pray as you do for their safety .    think positive thoughts and trust the Lord.   tracy --- On Wed, 1/6/10, kathy  wrote: this will make you even more sad...and I ask that you pray for my 3 grandkids(1 boy,2 younger girls) after you read this. 3. Kathy, don't apologize for venting, I am glad you did. I too am not against guns, but do not believe in setting up dangerous situations. I have some guns, but the ammunition for them is locked up where only I have access to them. I am not about to take chances with guns or knives. I was a safe hunter instructor for a while, and am very conscious of the risks of loaded guns. Thanks for sharing your situation, and we will pray for the kids, their mom, and yes, their dad, so he may have his eyes opened and realize the risk he is creating. Don in AZ

    3. this will make you even more sad...and I ask that you pray for my 3 grandkids(1 boy,2 younger girls) after you read this. Their father, my ex son in law.....keeps a loaded shotgun, and a 22, in my grandson's(he is now 11, but we found this out when he was 6?7?) bedroom closet!!! He seems to think its ok to do that. Apparently so do the courts...my daughter tried to get visitation stopped, curtailed etc..because that is one of the many reasons, but it didn't do any good. In Sept. of this year, I went with my daughter to pick up the kids from school, we had to drop off the grandson at his dad's...the grandson went in the house, and not even 5min later, I heard a gunshot...I about had a heart attack...I told my daughter what the sound was and she said..I don't think so..that couldn't happen..We kind of argued..I told her I know what a gunshot sounds like..Pretty soon the grandson came back out to the van to tell his mom goodby..and I asked him right up front...who shot the gun off?? He looked at me with his eyes wide..and said very quietly... I did...why, I asked?? because the birds were in the trees!! they poop on my dad's car and he doesn't like it. He shoots them too...I just looked at my daughter and she was speechless...she preceded to tell her son "why" you don't do things like that..etc..Oh by the way...he lives at the edge of town, not even in the country....Hmmm...I wonder if I could call the police and tell them??? anonomously of course....Just report I am hearing gunshots and from what house.. I should have done it back then...now I am ashamed because I didn't. Because this is a public forum and there are ladies on this list...I will not tell you what I really think of my ex son in law. I do the best thing for them that I can do...I pray for them everyday. I pray that GOD keeps them safe..their father sure doesn't seem to care. I pray for my daughter too. My heart goes out to the 10 yr. old and his family. Even if it was accidental, they will never be able to get over that. I'm sorry, but a house/home is NO PLACE to keep a loaded gun...and esp. if children live there. Before you ask me, I am not against guns, but I do believe in safely using and storing them. I will put that young child and his family in my prayers everyday. I would like to tell you I am showing my daughter this story, but she has enough to worry about already. I love her too much to put anymore worries on her. I also apologize for venting.... 3. A 10 year old boy has died in Tucson this evening from a gunshot wound to the head. They are saying on the news that they think it was accidental and was self-inflicted. They are not sure if anybody other than the boy was at home at the time of the shooting. My immediate thoughts were why would a 10 year old be at home alone, and why did he have access to a loaded gun if what they are saying is true? Don in AZ

    3. Thank you, Sally. My wife says I am a great cook. I enjoy cooking and do most of it around here. We just had a mother and daughter move in next door. They moved here from Boston. Sometimes when I am outside cooking they ask what I am cooking and tell me how good it smells. I guess we will have to invite them over for a meal some evening. I try to make something different every month for our pot luck dinners at the church. A couple months ago I made some pickled eggs, and one lady said she had not had pickled eggs for many years, and asked to take some home with her. I gave her all that was left, and the next month she asked me to make some more for her. I make my own salsa. If our daughter from Phoenix is here when I make it she takes 6 or 8 pints home with her and gives some of the jars to people in her church. One time she bought me enough supplies to make 24 pint jars full for her. She said it was all given away within two days. Don in AZ

    3. Hey Beck Glad to hear that you are alive and well and not snow bound. Have a good winter. Hi gang! Hope all is well and you are safe and warm. Classes started yesterday and I believe this will be the quarter that I drop the unwanted pounds that I gain from being a member of this clan. The snow is falling outside the library window. We are supposed to get another inch. I can deal with that. It's the wind that I can't stand. But this is Ohio and next week we'll probably have a heat wave. I just wanted to pop in and say that you haven't been forgotten. For the moment, I am in need of food before I head off to Tudor England. By the way, Aaron says no trips until springtime. What has happened to Herr Reed?
