YOU answered your own question, Cathy. You say a little prayer and send them out the door. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Be there to listen and encourage. If you did all you could, then that is all that is needed. It is their growth period now and it will come fast and furious, but it is theirs. I must say I do not envy all of you with your heavy snow fall. We had rain off and on all day on Sunday, but it is supposed to be clear for the next two days, and then two more days of rain. We had our two days of snowfall for this winter, about a half inch each time. Needless to say, we don't have snow blowers or snow shovels. Mt. Lemon, though, near Tucson, has had about 5 feet of snow. That is ski country, so people are quite happy about that. We had two or three days last week that it was warm enough to work outside in a T-shirt. Hope to have some more weather like that soon. I must say, though, with all the rain we have had, we are above average for this time of year. Last year we were way below average, so this may make up for some of that. Don in AZ
Well, people, we got 28 of that white stuff. Naturally, the snow blower decided it wanted a vacation. Ever thus. At least most got done before it went to sleep. Bright sunny day. We are 50 miles straight south of Harrisburg and 50 miles straight north of Baltimore. North of the Mason Dixon Line by 3 miles. Lovely, rural PA Dutch countryside. Hope all of you are warm and snug. Hello everyone, The snow ended here in VA about 3:30 yesterday. My patio table had 22" which was on the low end. I swear the front sidewalk where I was shoveling had more! It took two of us 3.5 hours to shovel from the front door, sidewalk (townhouse so not a lot of ground to cover) and get the truck out. My car is still buried but local counties are closed so I do not need to report to work tomorrow, yay! We are going to a Super Bowl gathering tonight. Driving there will be fine but there will be nowhere to park. Our host is having us park at the nearby Metro station and we'll get picked up from there. It was nice to walk the dog, she doesn't mind it at all. I stay on the hard packed neighborhood roads since the sidewalks are too slippery or just not shoveled. This morning, the weather channel said it is the 3rd largest snowfall, at one time, in Phili. PA.; some other places too. I'm changing weather channels....they keep saying that four letter word again, again, and again. :) Now they've repeated it for Tues/Wed. also. They have assured us it won't be like this last time. I'm the same here in Vestal, NY. Usually we get dumped on, but escaped with only a dusting. I am so relieved because I can't get out and run the snow blower until my eye doctor gives me clearance. I pray that everyone who did get all the snow are safe and suffer no ill-affects. I live in Shepherdstown, West Virginia ~~~ a real Civil War area. We have two feet of snow. It is so beautiful. Makes us all slow down and enjoy the beauty. Rebecca</HTML>
well, as long as i can reply to these emails i can send to the list, so trying again. I was just reading that Washington DC got socked. 2 1/2 feet, & a record of the perfect stuff for the making of snowmen. I remember that from living there. I'm just listening to country music, & answering emails. 8 inches is allot, but not bad, for one storm. Are you all expecting more though? I know if Cleveland gets/got any of that they probably got allot more than that. I remember my sister said they had about 2 1/2 feet in one storm last year! But they get lake effect snows. Hey Anna, from OH how much did you all get up your way? Anna is near-by to my sister. Is your sister doing better? My son has kept me up overnight here, because we had winds here overnight that has brought cold air down probably from the same storms that you got socked with! Hey Tracy what kind of weather you got up your way? Is the lady that does the CW costumes for reenactments still online on the list. I've been enjoying going to the reenactments, & so exciting! My husband & boyas sure have enjoyed going, especially We've gone to 2, but due to go next week, & from what I was reading on the net, it's a biggie. People being taken to the place by buses. My husband says we'll go there its in the Jacksonville area, Lake City, it's called Battle at Olustee. we went to "THe Brooksvilel raid" & Battle of Townsend Plantation" It's been interesting learning about the CW from the confederate viewpoint, knowing I'm a yankee parentage. I tell me boys, that the soldiers are all friends though! We've bought some books, from an author that has been to both we've been to. He was selling books that he authored, & videos. We had a windy weekend, & its supposed to get in the 30-40's tonight, & had 70's just 24 hours ago. Weird weather, but I like the changes, but still think people are weird here, this time of year, because it's cold here, & some people are wearing shorts, and I've got jeans & a sweater or jacket on! Oh well takes all kinds to make the world a great place! I'm up getting caught up, but got to go to bed, later,Cathy ----- Original Message ----- From: Becky Sanning <gooberspet@yahoo.com> To: PADUTCH-LIFE-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sat, 6 Feb 2010 18:08:13 -0500 (EST) Subject: Re: [PD-LIFE] storm Hello everyone! Hi Becky and all, We had 28 inches and more to come on Tues and Wed. Wouldn't you know, the snow blower crapped the bed before the job was done. OH, well. I was warm and safe inside. Here in Manassas, VA I am in the bullseye of the "meterological bomb". So far only 6" on the patio table where it accumulates first. I have to keep shoveling a path to a patch of grass for a 16-17 yr old dog we're sitting to have a spot to go. I shoveled it just before I began this email and it is already has a heavy powdered sugar coating. Just noticing the trees are moving a little bit from winds. Luckily where I live the power lines are not above ground. I have a friend who is at the Washington Capitols game at the Verizon Center in DC. I'm anxious to hear how the ride home will be. Hi Becky and all, Well, here in Piqua,Ohio, on the MIami/Shelby Co. line, North of I70...its been snowing since about 9am. Really snowing, and picking up speed..like a downhill snowball. :) Don is outside with the snowplow, so it doesn't build up too much in the driveway. (we live in the country) I think he just wants to get out of the house and play. ;) He's worried about the snow this time, because it is alot heavier than any of our other snows from this year. The pine trees, and bushes, and some of our other trees....all their limbs are really starting to hang over. I can only imagine how it is for the others in the Eastern states, DC, and up the Eastern seaboard.... etc....they have the possiblility to get up to 2 ft. of snow by the time this is over. At least if you listen to the Weather Channel, that is what they are saying. Please be careful if you have to go out. Take care and stay warm. I'm keeping my eye on the prize....SPRING SEASON is just around this snowy corner. :) Kathy Piqua Ohio ----- Original Message ----- From: "Becky Sanning" <gooberspet@yahoo.com> To: <PADUTCH-LIFE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, February 04, 2010 5:56 PM Subject: [PD-LIFE] Melungeon ancestry Hello everybody!
