Yes, Connie, you did need them and hopefully someday can use them :o) Sally, You are a riot! Though I would have made a HUGE spaghetti dinner for them all once they got here ;o) At least have the stuff for my mother-in-law's birthday dinner the end of August. I'm lurking now and then, but had a few jobs like get the carpet that I unwound by using my vacuum cleaner :o( out of the vacuum cleaner brush. Spent most of yesterday doing that a little at a time, and swept down the spiderwebs from the front door and windows, porch ceiling and pillars, only to have them spin again before the men get here to do the work. Who knows when that will be. I'm sure their full schedules for the summer are in FULL swing, and they are trying to FIT us in, because of the borough holding them up for 3 months. Oh well, at least that gable is up, and it looks like my neighbor's insurance company is going to honor her claim to fix her roof_thank God! We're going to pay her deductible for her_though we shouldn't because when they tore down their historic outhouse (which was connected to our back wall) we had to put out a few thousand dollars to brace our wall, and that didn't come under insurance. But, we will be good neighbors and just pay their deductible. I CAN'T wait until this is over. I have my flowers all coming in hardy, and all my porch furniture cleaned off, and it really looks nice out there; but, alas, as I told Mike last night, you watch, when John and Joyce get here, that is the day they will decided to start fixing the house, and it will be all torn up again. Speaking of class reunions, we really enjoyed my 25th, but now I have to wait for the 40, because somehow I didn't receive the notice they sent me about the 30th & 35th. Now that I am in contact with my childhood friend, who works at the high school, she is going to make sure she tells the girl handling it to let her know when she sends it to me, then she will email me to let me know it's in the mail. She said that my invitation went out the last two reunions we had, and they were looking for me to show up_now they know why I didn't :o( Our class had 952, and I believe much more than half showed up at the 25th reunion, and we were planning on getting together, just the ones from Glenside, at a reunion every year after that, but I guess it just didn't come about. They were going to hold it at Blue Marsh. I'll have to find out if they ever did, if I remember to ask in 2011 :o) Right, I'm going to remember :o) Hey Cuz! So glad you had a GREAT time at your reunion!!! You said not many of you changed? Well, the 25th will tell :o) LOL!!!! And, we never feel as old as we are when we get together with our classmates_it's high school all over again :o) I can't WAIT until the 11th of August!!! That childhood friend I said checked the mailing list, and it went out for both the 30th and 35th class reunion for me, after 30 years of life on our own, we found one another again and she is coming down to see us!!!! Neither one of us can wait. She said she really mellowed out, wait until she sees how mellowed out I am!!!! Have a GREAT day one and all !!!! Karen, I am STILL working on that Glenside musings :o) Lynn PS I guess I better keep pizza frozen for when all the visitors come :o) OR a BIG thing of chili :o) OR steak for making cheese steaks_that would feed a lot :o) Let's see, what else can I freeze for unexpected company? What dessert freezes well for that purpose? Sally wrote: > Tee Hee Hee! I told all my relatives and friends to stop by and visit you > soon, Just a few hundred!! We had one after 5 years, & we had 20 show up. I figured that was good. We had about 300, but even after that few years, we couldn't locate everyone. We just had it at a local hangout, & by then many had had children. I passed it to someone else local when I left for FL. Matter-of-fact, I visited with one of my classmates, while I was home this time. He still lives in my mom's neighborhood. Even though it is hurricane season here in Florida, usually the worst come in August to October. The other day my mom was sitting a few feet from her glass sliders, and all of a sudden there was a hurricane that blew through her back patio. A solid, dark sheet of rain appeared while the twister ripped in one side, and out the other. It left all the blinds mutilated and twisted in a spiral, and took out everything there. Yet when it passed through, it went over the rose bushes and trellis, and did not even shake one leaf off the plants. Unfortunately, they now have a small roof leak in the house. It has only been a little over a year since they replaced the roof because of the 2005 hurricane that blew off the old one. We feel blessed, however, that nobody got hurt, especially since Mom was only about 5 feet away from it. Her husband had just come inside only minutes before. I'm hoping there won't be so much fear about these storms after we move south of Tallahassee in a few weeks. Judy

Another thing I forgot to mention was that out of our 23 class members, we were able to locate 20 of them. Those 3 remain at large, and they are: Joe Anderson---last known to be in Denver, CO. Rhonda (Ice) Christian---believed to be somewhere in FL. I took her to the Spring Banquet one year and she ended up leaving with somebody else. Oh well. If she ever turns up at a future reunion, I'm going to tease her big time on that one. :-) Through one of the Rootsweb mailing lists, I did find her cousin and she told me that one of Rhonda's younger sisters lives near where I work. Only thing is she couldn't recall her current last name. Rhonda is the only one in our class with a grandchild. Keary (Peterson) Jerden---has lived in Texas but is believed to be somewhere in Missouri. If anyone on this list knows these people, please let me know. Thanks! Rick B
Finally jumping in on the class reunions.? I had my 50th last year and was elected class president for ?the next couple of ones we will have.? Decided to hold them every 2-2 1/2 yrs.? Next June we will hold another one.? It will be in our place.? We just felt with the rate we are loosing classmates, 5 years was too long to wait to see each other again.? It will be less expensive, also.? No place to rent, etc.? We are at the age we want to sit and talk anyway and catch up.? WE are scattered all over the USA.? We have auctions and karaoke (SP) and is always fun.? Just had our monthly luncheon today.? We never know who will attend and it is always fun. Sometimes 24 or even 4.? Good times.? I graduated from John Harris High School in Harrisburg PA in 1966 and the first reunion I went to was the 20th. I walked up to the girl I sat next to in Chemistry for two years and said "Hi Connie How are you?" She said "Who the h*ll are you?" It sure is nice to be remembered. Any Pioneers on this list? Hey Rick, Your first reunion? They waited 20 yrs? wow. -------------------- Actually it was 22 years. Tracy asked, "Your first reunion? They waited 20 yrs?". Tracy, I was in the class of 1933 and we never had a reunion. There were only twelve of us and, you guessed it, now I am the only one left. Richard Emlin Reed Wesley Chapel, FL
Sheila in WV says, "Richard, you are in Florida....do you have any storm stories to share with us?". Assuming that I am the Richard in Florida to whom you speaking, let me say this about that. When we get a storm here in Florida, they call it a hurricane; and it gets in all the papers; and you hear about it as soon as we do. I remember Charlie, even though I was in PA when he took the shingles off my roof. I fixed the roof; sold the house; and moved two doors away from my daughter and son-in-law. The one had nothing to do with the other; my daughter says my wife and I are too old to be left alone. Everything's quiet so far this year. I don't even have my storm shutters up yet. My son-in-law takes care of that for me; isn't that why I moved. Here's hoping he won't have to install them this year - or ever. Vinsh uns glick (Wish us luck). Richard Emlin Reed Wesley Chapel, FL ps and I thought "balls of fire" was an expression, not to be taken literally!
Yes, Richard you are the one that I was talking about, and I am really happy that you Floridians have not had to experience a dreadful hurricane so far this season! We will continue to hope that the hurricane forcasters are "off" in their predictions for this year. And to the "great balls of fire"......they really were great, big fireballs twirling along the posts on the porch!! You are right though, as...was it....Jerry Lee Lewis....that made that saying famous? Does anybody know the lyrics? Wow! What a storm story! Wow-wow-wow! That is incredible, Sheila. When I was a young girl, we were visiting my Grandma Bowyer here in WV (our family was living in Columbia, SC at the time while my Dad was stationed at Ft. Jackson), and my sister and I were sleeping in the back bedroom with our aunt....well, this terrific storm came, and we saw 3 HUGH fireballs bounce along the posts on the back porch located outside the bedroom we were in!. They were literally balls of fire, and they just hit one post after another in a flash!! We sat up, looked at each other in amazement! I will never forget that!! My mom came over yesterday to have Sunday dinner with us, and she told me about the time that a fierce storm came at the farm of my Dad's "old home place', the same place where the fireballs hit.....and the house was picked up and completely turned around....nobody in side was hurt, and nothing was damaged! Pretty amazing story! My mom said that from that day on, the house was completely looking in another direction. That seems just unbelievable! If anybody wants to see some sites of the property where the house stood, there is a winery there today that shows the rolling farm land that my grandparents...the Bowyer's owned. You can go to www.wolfcreekwinery.com. My uncle says that the tree in the one shot is the same one that all of the kids played on when they were growing up. The climate and soil must produce some awesome grapes since they have won several awards already. Now why didn't we know that? We could have all been wine producers today!(And there is a legend that there is gold hidden somewhere on the property. The kids all heard about it when they were growing up there.) Lynn, I sometimes have the hair stand up on my arms too....I wonder if it has anything to do with certain people being more perceptive than others...kind of like what they call ESP....I seem to have it happen when nobody else does. I know that I am a very sensitive person. Hope there aren't any storms in anyone's area today!! May the sun shine down on all of us!! Sheila in WV p.s. Hey Rick, Your first reunion? They waited 20 yrs? wow. Debra, And still kinda hope to see the school hunk walk by! We had a 5 yr and 10 yr and they talked about a 20 but never got it together. Then it was that we would have it for the 21 yr. Now it has been another couple yrs and nothing. Hopefully they will start planning now and we'll have our 25 in 2009. My high school is no longer a high school. It was made into a middle or jr. high, and may even now be torn down. I'll have to check. My mom had her 50 yr in 2004 and they were the last to be able to tour the high school.
