    2. You know when you run a daycare it seems like little ones just know..I can go into a store and the little ones flock to me at times.. My husband and I were at Sam's I was pushing my cart beside a young couple that had a little girl in their cart. As I was passing them the little girl about age 3 tried to climb into my cart.. Her Mother was amazed she said she never gets near anyone and never tries to get into their cart..She reached over and gave me a hug such a cute little girl.. Guess I was meant to be a Mommy.. I was in Wal Mart once and a little Boy was walking with his daddy he took off running and grabbed my hand looked up into my eyes and said in a loud voice hi there I love you.. We all laughed at that one.. I do love kids and I guess they know!! 2. Lynn You sound like me I love to make up recipes and if I try it and I don't like it I toss it out and start over.. I have colitis so I am limited to what I can eat but boy I can make lots of good things with what I can eat.. I can eat Pork, Chicken, Turkey and Fish but mostly I eat Chicken... I love to BBQ. I bought some home grown baking potatoes large one's. I baked them in the Micro Wave then cut them length wise sprayed them with cooking spray and sprinkled them with a mixture of KC Masterpiece BBQ Seasoning, Hickory Mesquite Seasoning, and Granulated Garlic.. I then place them on the BBQ grill (on low heat side) along with my chicken breast also seasoned with this mixture.. (the Potatoes you need to watch so they don't burn) by the time the chicken breast was done the potatoes were crispy and all you need to add is a bit of butter if you like.. the fried Parm cheese green beans go well with this.. Hungry yet? 3. You made me hungry for chicken again, and we just had it these 4 days. I don't eat a lot of meat, chicken or fish_if I do, it's mostly chicken or fish. I'm a salad FREAK!!!! When I was in the kitchen, just now, I tried to remember everything you said you put into this recipe you gave for the Smothered Chicken Breast. This resembles a gourmet recipe a friend of mine made from one of those fancy-shmancy cookbooks. The only other ingredient in it was orange marmalade, or some kind of jelly? Anyway, I put some skinless, boneless chicken thighs into the frying pan, to fill it. I cut up the onions and green pepper, and just layed them over top of the chicken, then added a tablespoon of Canola oil to it, some salt and pepper, and covered it. Turned it on high, until it started frying a bit, then turned the chicken, let it fry a little more, then turned the heat down, and just let it cook while I was doing other things. It simmered for about 2 hours, and is SOOOO tender. I think it is good, and thanks for the little ideas in your recipe that made me even try green pepper and onion in with chicken. I use green pepper and onion all the time, but totally forgot about the chicken I had at my friend's house, until I read your recipe. Well, tonight's has a VERY, VERY interesting flavor, and tomorrow we will find out how Mike likes it. I have this tendency to cook whenever the urge hits me, which is most of the time, and most of the time it is very late at night!!! Remember the cheese soup experimenting, Joan Young, a few years ago? Well, that's how I cook. Mike goes to bed and I go to the kitchen, and his stomach growls all night long from the aroma going all over the house. My brother-in-law often smells me cooking late at night, too, because his livingroom is on the other side of the wall in the kitchen, with just a wall board behind our refrigerator blocking that area where a door use to be, before they renovated this house over 27 years ago. Thanks, again, for reminding me of this wonderful combination of Chicken, green, red, and yellow pepper, and onion. Oh, and the cream cheese and that hot pepper relish_well, it got VERY good, only I WILL use a lot less of the relish. I have Cream Cheese Pepper Dip in a container in the fridge, instead of a cheese ball, which is what I thought I would have :o) I'll probably use about 2 tablespoons of the relish next time, but it will be one of those things I have in the frideg often. This will last me quite a while, though it didn't make that much. But, Mike can't eat the hot stuff, either, like you. I might try that Pepper Jelly, only it has an awful lot of sugar in it!! WOW!!!!!! I bet I would be shocked at how much sugar is in Sarah's Hot Pepper Relish, too :o) GREAT recipes everyone!!!!! :o) Lynn

    3. Dear Cathy and Barb, Cathy, I am sorry for the loss of your best friend. I know how very difficult that is, especially when it isn't expected--when there is no prescience. It is like losing a sister; and there is just nothing that can fill that space. I still grieve for the loss of my best friend. It takes a while for the 'edge' to wear off so you can move forward. Barb, I certainly will say a prayer for Lou Lou. I am hopeful that with her loving family around her for support, the advancements the medical field has made in treating certain cancers, and her keeping a good attitude will get her quickly on the road to recovery and remission. Hugs to both of you. Should have it done by Monday :o) :o) Lynn Karen wrote: I remember reading about Michael Achenbach when he was killed. I felt so sad for those daughters. For quite a while there would be an 'In Memorium' notice in the newspaper every year on his birthday and the anniversary of the day he was killed. I'm not sure if that is continued into the present.

    3. Don When came to Ft Huachuca in 1961, Sierra Vista had a population of just over 6,000..It had one red light in town, The M.I. (Military Inn Bar) on main Street was the hang out for the GI's night life. I was assigned to Hq Co 6470th in the Cable TV Section. I just completed TV School at Ft Monmouth, NJ...We maintained the Cable System for the quarters. I left there Aug 1962 for Alaska, was Chief Engr Channel 8, Wildwood Station, Kenai, Alaska.. That station closed in Oct 63 and finished my Tour as Special Service NCOIC. Assigned back to Ft Huachuca Aug 64, assigned to Hq ERDA (Electronic Research Development Agency). We worked out of Greely Hall (2d floor). That closed down 1965. transferred to Hq USAEPG (Service Test Division (STD)), as operations Sgt until I transferred to Hq & Hq Co USAEPG as 1st Sgt Oct 67. Left Ft Huachuca for Vietnam September 1968, when I returned in Sep 69 assigned to US Army Advisor Group, Phoenix as Sr Advisory for 6224 USAR School until my Retirement Apr 30, 07. Been living in Great Phoenix Area since. I agree, it grows on you staying in Arizona. 3. They still call it a border, but most of the time I wonder about that. Living here in Sierra Vista, just a few miles from the border, we see a lot of illegals coming through here. A lot of them now come into town, go to a pay phone and call 911, because they know they will get picked up, get a good meal, some new clothes, a shower and a ride back home. Don

I understand what you mean by being brought to Arizona kicking and screaming. The first time we came out here I thought this was the end of the world. I wondered what we were getting into when we saw lots of rocks, desert, and what they dared to call Mesquite "bushes" trees. Of course, the place kind of grows on you. We have beautiful mountains all around us and right now, lots of green weeds. For those of you that are seeing Huachuca for the first time, it is pronounced Huachuka. Don

    3. I gear you, don't know if we have a border anymore also. Here in Arizona, the Illegal's are a big problem. 3. Don, I made one trip to Arizona back in the early '60s. I was employed by the USAF as a systems maintenance manager and had occasion to visit the Sperry Gyroscope Company in Phoenix. I believe it is now part of UNISYS. I decided to take my wife and daughter along and make a business vacation out of it; and we drove out. Well, the per diem wasn't too great; and I had to look for cheaper meals than were available at the motel where we stayed. I found a place, called the Desert Rose Motel, that served dinners for $1.45, including dessert. In a conversation with the manager, I said, "I don't see how you do it". He wailed, "I don't see how I do it, either". To which I replied, as we sailed out the door, "Well, keep it up". 3. I lost my very best friend, Sandy, & that touched my heart for sure! I still am alittle in shock still, but again we all know she's in a non-suffering place, & that comforts me too! She was having kidney dialysis, & had a heart attack! She had just gotten the papers for the little girl she was adopting. She was only 60. And my kids are going to miss our lunches/dinners we used to go to with her. Thank goodness we went to dinner before coming to OH, & had talked to her upon arrival from OH! > [Original Message] > From: <twerppy@aol.com> > To: <padutch-life@rootsweb.com> > Date: 8/11/2007 10:06:38 AM > Subject: Re: [PD-LIFE] Sister Evelyn > > > That is beautiful, Mary, and I'm sure that comes from many of us to Anna.? 3. Bleh! Excuse my typos.... I don't know why I persisted in typing that stray U in Achenbach. Ei yi Yi! My message SHOULD have read: This talk about Achenbachs - In the Tulpehocken area my 2x gr-grandmother was Elizabeth M. Achenbach, (b. abt 1833) who married Nathan Gruber, (b. abt 1830). They had a daughter Mary E. Gruber (b. Oct 1859) from whom I am descended. Elizabeth was the daughter of Jno. & Mary (unk) Achenbach. Richard, let me know if my Elizabeth intersects with your Achenbach tree. I remember reading about Michael Achenbach when he was killed. I felt so sad for those daughters. For quite a while there would be an 'In Memorium' notice in the newspaper every year on his birthday and the anniversary of the day he was killed. I'm not sure if that is continued into the present.
