    3. Thanks Jane!!! Is this Milky Spore okay with pets? Lynn Jane wrote: I have some hollyhocks I got from a friend years ago. If they like where you plant them you'll have them forever. They are perennials, but they also seed, so I find plants other places in the garden. Mine are a rosy red. Be sure to give them lots of sun. As for the Japanese beetles, you can cut down on their numbers by using Milky Spore. You spread it on the grass and it gets rid of the beetles in a year or so, or at least reduces their numbers. It is all natural. Flea beetles also bother my hollyhocks. The doubles seem a little harder to grow than the old fashioned ones. I know you'll enjoy them.

    3. Another good one Richard Emlin Reed!!! Yes, I've heard these before, but have forgotten them over the years!!!! Keep them coming!!! They sound like the Abbott and Costello routines :o)! Thanks! Lynn PS They are doing our front porch!!!!!! BUT!!!!!!!!!! You can tell the Historic District had their hand in what goes up as far as pillars, because our unique porch is no longer unique anymore :o( :o( :o( It's plastic, Historic :o( Blaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!! I didn't know they were coming!!! The guy said he told the contractor to call us the day before. These guys had to empty our porch off of all plants and porch furniture, before they could even start working. And, I'll tell you what!!! That was the fastest shower I ever took!!!!! I was not prepared for someone being on our porch roof, but I got out before that happened, thank God!!! I wanted to have all the new spiderwebs wiped off, so they didn't have to work around them, or do that themselves; but since the contractor left a message on someELSE'S answering machine LOL!!!, I didn't get to prepare the area at all. I wonder if those people, who did get our message, are waiting for the guys to show up to make sure they don't tear their porch apart :o) Richard Emlin Reed submitted: Rick, I can't claim authorship. 3. Hi List, How is the weather where you are? We've been having 100* temps with 107*-113* heat index during the day and muggy low 80's at night. Today I went out and it about 80* with a nice wind blowing. It ALMOST felt cool! The weather for my area says it is 74*, but I don't think I can believe that. Was there a cold front? Last night, after the news, my sister said today was to be the hottest day of the year, so far. We are to start getting rain this weekend. Haven't hardly had any rain for days now. It's been so terribly HOT! Stay cool! tracy ____________________________________________________________________________________ Boardwalk for $500? In 2007? Ha! Write the company (CEO or President) a letter and tell them what happened, how you were injured, and ask about the warranty. Look for a reset button on treadmill. May be something as easy as that. Might just be to unplug for 15 mins and plug in again (if it has a cord). tracy ____________________________________________________________________________________ Fussy? Opinionated? 3. Thanks, Charles!! WOW! If they grow there, I know we can grow them here. I was outside walking Lexus, and told a neighbor about growing Hollyhocks. His parents owned a farm, when they were living. He said they grew Hollyhocks at the sides of the house, but I don't have dirt anywhere near the house, so I will have to figure something else out. I might try growing them at the posts of the front porch, in big pots, and other places I might be able to sqeese them in. The neighbor pointed out that they have double ones now, and I told him that is what made me want to grow them so badly. We saw the same ad for the Peaches and Dreams Hollyhocks, in the paper. Now he can't wait until next year :o) :o) Lynn Charles wrote: We grow them here on the Canadian border. We're closer to the North Pole than the Equator.

    3. Thanks, Daniel :o) The HGTV site has a wonderful section on saving seeds for Heirloom gardening. Since this variety I am ordering is a new one, I am going to try to preserve it, by saving the seeds, and planting them in some of the other gardens. I am starting a new garden, in the rear of the sideyard, where I now have wooden trays that really don't grow much of anything. WE already put a new bush there, and I have to wait until next hear to see how big it gets. My Hydrangeas that I clipped from a neighbor's bushes across the street, are rooting very well, and I can't wait for them to be added to the yard somewhere. I decided to hold onto the Lilac that won't produce any flowers, because maybe, by the time the TALL pine tree has to come down, which we believe the cause of no flowers on the Lilac, the Lilac will take up the space of that whole area. I would like to get a gated arbor for at the top of the side steps going to the side of the house from the front. I saw one somewhere, but can't remember where I found it. It was probably on an HGTV show recently. It was so cute and I don't think the Historic District would have a problem with it, either. I know exactly where to grow the Hollyhocks, too!!!!!
