Hi everyone!!! Yes, I did have a surge protector, but I did hear on tv some time ago that they don`t always work. Then, when I bought my new computer, the guy told me that there are different "powers" (or what ever you call it) of them. He suggested that I pick out a middle range one. Who knows just what I had that didn`t work. Hopefully, both of my printers are okay. I haven`t been able to try them out yet....however, they both turn on which is more than what my computer did. I was able to put in some programs that I loved in my windows xp, but they work different in Vista. I will get used to using it, before long I will forget how much I liked my XP.....(maybe if I tell myself and everyone else that....I will actually believe it too!!!!) Seriously though, it isn`t nearly as bad as I though it would be. I bought myself one of those Kuerig coffee makers. They are wonderful !!! I have to have only decaf. It makes a great cup of coffee!!! It is very cold here in south central PA....exspecially in an older house....where it is only 62 in the house when I get up....thankfully, we have a ceramic heater and also turn on the oven to get it a bit warmer in here. Lots of blankets on my bed and of course it helps to have cats that like to sleep with me and help keep me warm too!!! I will give someone else a chance to talk now....how bout passing some pie over to me now??? ~~~Linda~~~ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lynn Vondran" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 15, 2009 10:17 PM Subject: Re: [PD-LIFE] let`s have coffee > Hi Linda, > Wish we would have thought to order my laptop with XP, instead of Vista. > With what I do, I don't like it, but, after a while, I'm sure it will be > okay. This is how the list use to be. Work, talk, work, talk, work, talk all day long, I remember into the night really late at times :o) It keeps me moving around here, instead of getting too engrossed in my mega projects. Sometimes one needs a break :o) Mike is always happy when I get chatty online, because then I sit still for longer than 5 minutes at a time. Usually I am in motion all the time, making his head spin. Okay, gotta start working on typing up that recipe, and sending that NuWave section to Peggy. Don't forget, if any of you have a NuWave Oven, let me know, and I'll send you the NuWave section to THE MANUAL. I'm just starting to get that together, since I've only had my NuWave a year come this February. I wonder what my mom, and all those who have left this world, would have thought of the NuWave, and other appliances we enjoy today. I think Mom and "Grammom" Rothenberger would have LOVED it!!! Puts a whole new light on cooking, for sure. As I said, I haven't used my conventional stove/oven but one time, to boil corn, since I got my NuWave, and since I found out I can do that in my microwave, with my handy dandy vegetable steamer from Tupperware, I never used the stove again. Now, I can't imagine Mom and "Grammom" not using their ovens for all their baking, but I don't think they would turn their noses up at the NuWave for simple meals. Then I'm going to do some more wash, work on a few more photos in my photo project, then stop, get ready to call it a night, and unwind playing Mahjong Quest III. Lexus is already sleeping, and Mike went up to bed an hour ago. Me, I'll be up doing wash, and some other things before relaxing for the night. Better get moving here. Signing off for the night. Sleep tight everyone! :o) Lynn PS Where I sleep, where I am sitting right now, it all of a sudden feels like someone hung a sheet of ice right next to me, and has a fan on it, blowing ice cold air at me :o) It's gotta be cold out there_brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Hi Linda, Wish we would have thought to order my laptop with XP, instead of Vista. With what I do, I don't like it, but, after a while, I'm sure it will be okay. It's just a pain when you go to do something that worked so well in XP, and gives such a problem in Vista. Did you have your computer on a surge protector? Glad someone knows how to extract all your old info from the burned out computer. Hope it works for you. Yes, I have an external hard drive to back up all my stuff. Wouldn't be without it. But, Mike has to do something to my files, so that I can do a clean backup. Don't know what happens, but it certainly is a pain to back up all my stuff. He always has to take over the operation and I want to be able to do it myself, instead of having to ask him so many questions, and eventually taking over, because the backup isn't running smoothly. I love to play my new game, that my sister-in-law bought for my birthday_it's Mahjong Quest III. Mike told me that he knew I could load it myself, but NOOOOO, it didn't work the first or second time with this new computer_though it was Vista compatible. He had to take over that also, and play with the thing, not having very nice things to say regarding Bill Gates, while doing it. So, glad yho like your Vista_you're the first person I actually heard say that :o) Hugs and a cup of coffee from Columbia_though I am a Harris Green Tea drinker, here :o) I will have a cup or two of coffee with Mike now and then, especially if I make it in our coffee maker :o) Lynn Linda wrote: I like the idea of all of us sitting down and having a cup of coffee together!! Hi Connie, Yes, it took quite a while for my Charlie horses to stop running back and forth between my hips in the back. I think my recliner is my permanent bed. At least, after only getting an average of 1 1/2 hours sleep a night for 15 years, I am getting a lot more now. I don't know how my body took that much abuse all those years, of not getting rest! Wish you could visit, then I could show you the exercises I have made up, to relieve some of the pain. Once you can get to that point, the body can heal itself a bit faster. Lindsey said they worked for her, though she still has pain, it's not near as bad. Guess she'll be like her mom :o) She is mirroring (sp?, for some reason that doesn't look right at all? ever have that happen when you look at a word too long, and all of a sudden it doesn't look right?) her my injuries at the exact times in her life that they happened to me, in my life. Have to get a recipe typed up, yet, tonight, so better close for now. Hugs! Lynn PS Mike said the river is freezing. I thought it was already frozen, from what I can see from our front porch. Must have been the way the sun was shining on it, that made it look like ice, instead of water moving. Connie wrote: > Dear Lynn,? The temp is COLD.? Surge protectors have different ratings, but most of them that you buy in a local store are not the best. When I worked for the defense contractor part of my work was to design surge/lightning protection systems for large computer facilities. They even sent me to school to become a certified "expert" in protection. (LOL about the expert.) Most surge protectors deteriorate with use. Each time they take a surge they lose some of their effectiveness. After a while they become totally ineffective. The best surge protection is what is called an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS). A UPS converts AC house current to DC battery current and then back to AC current. Even though they are more expensive, they do not deteriorate like a surge protector does, and they provide much better protection. Don in AZ

Hi Lynn and Sue I have to agree I don't usually make coffee at home at least the perked kind because my husband doesn't usually drink it. But when I am out I like Dunkin Donuts Coffee best. Hi Sue; I know you are cold but we are freezing up here, Ok, one of my best friends sister and brother in law live in Orange Park, We have visited her many times. The traffic on the main road is challenging but we went to a ribs place that was the best ribs I have ever had. We always used to go to the Sisters Resturant for lunch every time we visited them. They had the best peanut butter pie.
