ok y'all, here it is~i find it positively revolting, but my folks love it.... tip~when my dad gets a hankering for this, he usually suggests baked taters for supper the night before and asks mama to bake up some extra taters~they're easier to use... Mackerel and Milk Gravy you'll need: butter fresh garlic~finely chopped~optional onion~diced (figure 1 onion for every 3 taters) potatoes~diced (1 medium tater per person) canned mackerel (1 can for every 2 people) half n half pepper flour or cornstarch to thicken bread or biscuits (whichever is preferred) fry up your garlic, onions and potatoes in butter till taters are browned and tender...then remove from pan, set aside and cover next, fry up the mackerel in butter just until hot all the way through...remove from pan, leaving the drippings in the pan...set aside and cover add half n half to pan, pepper to taste, add thickening agent and heat~stirring frequently~till gravy thickens spoon taters onto plate, place bread or break up biscuits beside taters, set mackerel on top of bread/biscuits, then ladle gravy over mackerel (and the taters, too, if you want) -- ...frame every so-called disaster with these words~in 5 years will this matter?

We always take our cotton bags with handles.? I bought them a long time ago from a catalogue. I pack my own bags when I can.? That way, it is efficient and no need for any of theirs.? Thanks Connie! I'll just have to sniff it out, as I have to with everything else, and hope that the smells in the stores/markets don't overpower the smell of the product. Usually that happens, then when I get it home, it's way too powerful for me. We'll have to skip by there, next time we are over that way. Never heard of Saubles? Giant is a store that for some reason I can't shop in. I loved going to Darrenkamp's, but the plastic bags they use are dangerous for me, so we unpacked them, and threw them out in the trash right away. I am still swollen from the plastic bags. We'll ask them for all paper next time we go. The smell of the bags actually got onto the groceries. But, I kept the groceries on the kitchen table for a while, before putting them away, and some I wiped down, also, or repackaged, if the outside kept the smell of the bags in them. So, I know where SOME of the smell comes from (the plastic bags) in these stores, though you couldn't smell it anywhere else in Darrenkamp's, and I'm sooooo thankful for that. I can use Carmex for these rashes I get out of no where, it seems_but I would like to get away from the constant use of it. Maqry- Yes...you use Outlook as your email client and Outlook interprets this header field: Sender: [email protected] In conjuction with the FROM header field which shows you as the FROM address as being "on behalf of" you as the sender. This is a "feature" of the software that is used to run our lists that creates the SENDER field as you see it above and unfortunately Outlook interprets the headers this way. Most other email clients don't do this--only Outlook. Joan PS: I think Lynn is seeing it even though she doesn't use Outlook because she's seeing it on incoming mail to HER from others who Do use Outlook. In a message dated 1/25/2009 12:12:48 P.M. Hah, even this stuff is interesting :o) Well, I'm glad it isn't just me :o) Have to leave now. Just got my update from Mike, from church, and now to work on next Sunday's teens, "Meet Me at the Vondrans'" Gonna have a nice size group here, even though it's Super Bowl Sunday! I think I'll make spaghetti !!! I have enough sauce_opened so many cans of tomato products looking for something with no seeds in it. I can combine all those, and freeze what was left over from yesterday! YIPPEE!!! Got it all figured out! That'll feed those hungry teens. AND, we will be laughing_you KNOW why! Apples to Apples will be played :o) Going again, and probably won't be back until later this evening. Byeeeeeeee! Lynn, Here is the web site: http://www.buythebullet.com/ There is a video there that you may like to see. They have a special going, too. I bought mine from either HSN or QVC on sale. I used it for a lot of things as far as chopping, blending, grinding (coffee beans), etc. It is very easy to use, easy to clean up, and has a small footprint on the counter. I store all the additional things that come with it (pitcher, cups, lids, etc) in a cupboard. The cups are great for making drinks of all kinds. Blend up pancakes in the pitcher for easy pouring, or make a pitcher of lemonade for guests. You will need to shop around for the best prices. A lot of places have them in stock: Wal-Mart, Target, Sears, etc. I usually let my finger do the walking on line.... You can even try eBay.... Hang on..... Yep! they have all sorts of them out on eBay. You can even buy extra parts and pieces out there. Happy shopping. Thanks, Trish! Once I get my yarn, I'll try this one first and let you know! There's a purpose to everything, although at times we don't understand why. God gives us all talents, some really awesome and some just ordinary, but we're really good at it. Lynn, A Magic Bullet is a very small blender type set-up. It comes with a base and 4 cups, with lids and rings. You can make frozen drinks with them and a bunch more stuff. The info- mercial shows them making Alfredo sauce, salsa, drinks; grating hard cheeses, grinding coffee and microwaving right in the cup. They cost about $50 but can be found on sale for $40 or so. I received one for my birthday but have not used it yet. I can't wait until my hubby sets up ice maker in fridge so I can have ice cubes. Then I want to make shakes (ice, milk, flavorings). The Magic Bullet looks very easy to use and clean according to infomercial. I think Walmart carries them. Mine was bought at Kohl's. I've seen them at Sears. Drats about the GT Express! I really wanted one of those. :o( tracy --- On Sun, 1/25/09, Lynn wrote: A Magic Bullet? How much do they cost, and what all do you use one for? Mary, Since you are planning to come to PA end of June, beginning of July, you may want to consider spending a day at the Kutztown PA Dutch Folk Festival. YEAH!!!!!!!!!! Way to go Bill !!!! I know how hard it was to give it up. Smoked for 20 years, and for 10 of those years, smoked 2 packs in a 7.2 hour day. Quit cold turkey, and went through MUCH, PAINFUL withdrawal. But, I had so much energy after that, and am so much better for quitting, today. Hi Mary, Thanks, Mary. Just saw they have the Method brand, also, listed at this website. My cousins Gary and Vicki are going to get me some and bring it next time they come for a visit. Vicki said that we can get it at Target, so on our York shopping trip, we will just have to stop in there. Maybe we should anyway, to see what all they have, since we are looking for other products we can't get anymore, because of Redners closing in our area. Maybe they handle this Life Tree product, also. I've tried other environmentally safe products, but had to give them to Lindsey, because they caused my breathing passage to slam shut. But, just MAYbe, if the citrus smell isn't a perfumy citrus sort of smell, I'll have my dish soap!!!! As long as the smell doesn't last longer than doing the dishes, and doesn't stay in my dish cloth, or soak into my dish pan, I'll be okay with it. It's whatever they put into the products, that enhances the smells, and makes them SOAK into everything around them, including food stuff, like people's flours, sugars, salts, baking sodas, and walls, I'll be okay. I really need to smell it, and walk away from it for a while, before just buying it. Some things don't effect me for a few hours_those are the hardest to figure out, because I have to think of every place I was, and every thing that I was in contact with, then_oh, it's just a big old headache. We usually go through about $100 before we find something I can use again. I should just go back to the Shaklee Get Green dish soap. But, that's $8.95 a small bottle, and with shipping and handling that little bottle cost over $18. Mike said not to worry about it, if it's going to keep me alive; but, I do worry, because what happens if he would lose his job, or something would happen to him? I know, I'm just a miser, but I still say there have to be products out there that aren't so invasive into ones skin, and surroundings, that don't cost an arm and a leg. Everytime I find something like that, they either don't handle it in the stores anymore, or discontinue manufacturing the stuff altogether. That's why, when I do find something I can use, we buy it up, and try to get enough to last me a year or more. Thanks for looking around for this, Mary. Maybe we'll order some and give it a try. I still have a bottle of my Shaklee Get Green, but am saving that for those really bad days. Oh, if you all haven't played Apples to Apples, buy it, get some folks together, and play it. Guaranteed it will make you laugh so hard!!!! We played it yesterday, when my cousin and his wife were here. Rick, I was just thinking, if you and your parents ever get this way again, we'll have to have Gary and Vicki here, and play that game. We laughed so hard, it hurt! But, as they say, laughter is the best medicine!!! In fact, laughter is the only medicine I take. Keeps you young!!! I still feel like I'm 18. I just told Mike that I don't know why I feel like time is getting away from me. After all, I gave up all my volunteer work, except for what I can do from home, and I still don't have time in my day for sitting still for very long. I asked him if it's just that I'm moving slower, and all he did was laugh hysterically. He said, "Honey, why do you think my head is going to fall off one of these days!!!! It's because you are ALways in motion doing something. No, you haven't slowed down. You' ve just found so much more to take up that time_that SPARE time you were GOING to have once you stopped everything :o)" So, I guess I'm not slowing down, but just doing things that take longer to see results? Well, better get moving here. Have a GREAT week! I am so happy that I have my Internet back!!! I was actually lost without it these two days, and hardly sat down at all, except to eat yesterday and and play Apples to Apples. Guess Mike likes when people visit, because I at least sit still for a little. And, now that we have the coffee maker, well, I sat still longer than normal!!!! AND, I found a meal that keeps me still, when company is here_a SPAGHETTI DINNER!!!!!!!! Usually I am serving everyone while they are eating, and don't sit still enough during the meal to enjoy it with our visitors. Though, I think I sat still for that Moist 'n' Crispy Chicken dinner, didn't I cousin Rick! or was I up and down then, too? By the way, CUZ, are you getting my emails lately? Haven't heard from you in a while. I know two other people haven't been getting them, and I've answered their emails, every time they come through_guess I haven't been getting theirs, either. Did I say I better get moving :o) GREAT week, and love the postings!!!! I, too, had bad falls early in my life and did not get any chiropractic help until middle age when I could not function at all.? Carried into his office.? I cried when he could see how much pain I was in just by looking at my x-rays.? I was constantly told if I exercised I would not have that pain.? Sorry, cart before the horse situation.? NO exercise would have cured that.? Even the military Dr. denied the ruptured disc clearly visible on x-ray.? By then, it had a cascading effect all through the back and the hips were going in different directions.?Since I fell last Nov. I almost am back where I was.? Time and continued treatment will be what makes it 'all better'.? ?I find the weather really racks me up and on sunny days I do pretty good.? That is why I love AZ.? We can have a blast talking of aches and pains.? Isn't that what we old people do?, according to the youngsters? My husband just gave up cigarettes due to being ill.? Has tried for years and couldn't seem to do it.? Finally.? It has been a month.? He has not been this sick since we have been married these 49 years.? I think this was a serious reality check for him. I have seen a big change in him.? Seems more mellow, also.? Talk later.? Need to get busy.? I hurt my back when I was 13. For some odd reason, my mother didn't believe me, so it took 5 years for me to get to the chiropractor. That was 42 years ago. I love my chiropractor and used to go to his father. I don't have to go all the time, but I should get on a monthly schedule just for maintenance. I have been seeing him since October 15th for this problem, put part of it is that my rotator cuff is not in good condition. Thankfully I changed medical insurance when I retired and it now covers his visits less a co-pay of $10. People always say to me that I shouldn't be doing this or that because of my age. My response is, "Why?" If I am capable and able, then why not? If I stopped doing everything because of my age, I would soon be doing nothing and would wither up and blow away. Not my idea of living, by a long shot. I ache and hurt every day because of all the rough activities I put my body through all my life; but who doesn't ache and hurt? I guess that's why I liked the morphine I was on for three days when I had my motorcycle accident. It took away every bit of pain in every part of my body that ever hurt. It was pretty euphoric. It also got me through the worst of any withdrawal symptoms I would have had from not having a smoke, so I quit that, too. It will be 8 years in July since I've had a cigarette. One of the best things I ever did. Most days I feel about 50, but have days when I feel 150. I still do a lot of manual labor, which I thoroughly enjoy until it sneaks up on me and kicks my butt, so to speak. Like with the pinched nerve in my shoulder and neck from all the plaster work. Ah, well.... that's life. I hope I continue to feel this way for a long, long time. Life is still interesting, and I'm still wiling to try new things. I'm just more choosey as to what those new things are... LOL. Me, I'm older than you, I bet.? Yes, to many of the items you mentioned.? I do not have the churns but lots of other things.? I am looking for a dining room set.? Mine is in MA and want to re trade it with our daughter who now has it.? She would like to have the set I have and we would trade, but it is getting her down here with their truck to do the exchange.? I want to have a yard sale. No energy to go further than that. LOL! I love old things. I have old table linens; two old butter churns; the old butter bowl and paddle for working the butter; the old butter crock; old sauerkraut crock; old cabbage shredder; old peeler and rotary hand beater (I still use them); my grandmother's old china, tatted-edge hankies, pressed glass bowls, crocheted arm-chair covers, old jewelry and her old desk; a few old oil lanterns, the youngest of which is 55 years old; my mother's cedar chest; my husband's grandmother's old cedar chest; an old book case; an old miniature chest of drawers with some old tinker toys in it; my antique Hoosier that I refinished (because it was in such poor shape I could do nothing else with it); and Lord only knows what else I have around here..... Oh, yes! I have my mother's antique 1/2 horse motor that she used to troll her big old wooden scow with up and down the lake. LOL! There's more up in the attic. What else ya got (just kidding)? LOL. I am trying to hoe out my house. I am hoping that I will be able to get rid of some of it by having an 'estate sale' in the spring/early summer. It will probably take me all of that time to get everything ready. Any one need any dining room furniture? I have a beautiful cherry queen Anne table with two 18" leaves and 8 upholstered chairs, plus 2 upholstered captain's chairs. It seats 10-12 maximum. I also have a small 36" round/42" oval solid golden oak table with upholstered dark cherry chairs (I was going for that light/dark contrast that is so popular now-a-days) all for sale. I also have a solid cherry lady's desk, some bedroom furniture, and an antique desk for sale. If you want directions to my house, just let me know.... (big, rueful smile). The house didn't get this way over night, I suppose it will take me a while to clean it out!!! Every time I get my basement cleaned out, it fills back up again. When I get it cleaned out this time, I am turning it into a huge craft area so there won't be room for any one to put anything else! Anyone know why my messages to the list are on behalf of? Yes, that's it. ichthemol. I knew it didn't look right the way I had it spelled. We ALways had a tube of that. I think I just threw our tube away last year. It's really strange, but for all my chemical sensitivity, THAT didn't effect me at all? So strong_must be made differently than the new fangled stuff. :o) Lynn Mary wrote: > That's what I was wondering, too..... ichthemol, I think it is..... Thanks, Don. I'll have to try it again. I put it on my list for next time we get over to York. Lynn in Columbia. PS Hey, Mary, when you get to Lancaster, stop in, even if it's just for a drive-by hello like Sally had to do last year !!! At least I got to meet her, and hope to have a longer visit from her and her husband sometime this year. And, when you are in Berks County, please say hi to my hometown of Reading. I miss it so, so much :o( Don in AZ wrote: > Wal Mart sells Pure Aloe Vera Gel that in unscented. > You can find it in the Health and Beauty section.
