Hi, list I'm wondering whether anyone has access to Delaware County obituaries for the mid-19th Century and might be able to find an obituary for Amos Wood (b. Jan. 18, 1792 d. Jan. 28, 1850). His wife was Mary Slaughter, about whom I know nothing except that the Palmer genealogy ("A Genealogical Record of the Descendants of John and Mary Palmer", 1910, Palmer, Lewis) identifies her as Amos' wife. My wife descends from Amos' son Matthew (1819-1902) whose obituary reads, in part: "Mr. Wood was of direct English lineage, his father having left the old country in 1795, and settled in this country." Now, however, I've encountered some online cousins -- on of whom referenced a local genealogist, Jim Hazard (anyone know him?) -- who says Matthew's obituary is incorrect and that the Wood family actually goes back to colonial Pennsylvania.
