    1. NATURALIZATION
    2. I'm confused (as usual?) - - - - re the "first naturalization act" passed by Congress to go into effect in 1795, how did this differ from naturalizations a hundred years earlier, other than that the Colony was operating under a different type of government, either subject to England or later a free state? I am referring to a book by Carl Boyer III, "Ship Passenger Lists, Pennsylvania and Delaware 1641-1825),specifically page 15 which is headed "Naturalizations, Germantown PA 1691/92". I am assuming that to be a citizen in the colony, they took the Oath to King William and Queen Mary, but when the Revolutionary War was imminent every able bodied (or otherwise !) man had to take the Oath of Allegiance to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or another of the thirteen colonies. My 8th G-gf is listed under "Naturalizations, 5May1691", along with 60 others as having taken the Oath to the King. Or am I reading a different meaning in the word "naturalization"? Dori
