1. Re: Petition books
2. Hi Tina, You need to contact the District Court of Philadelphia, for the information you requested from me. The Delaware County Courts have nothing to do with papers/petitions/documents filed in Philadelphia. You might want to contact the following, in regard to the petition that was filed in Philadelphia in 1868: The Historical Society of Pennsylvania (HSP) (215) 732-6200 PA Historical Society of Pennsylvania http://www.hsp.org/ The Genealogical Society Of Pennsylvania (GSP) (215) 545-0391 PA Historical Society of Pennsylvania http://www.hsp.org/ Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS) In a message dated 9/27/2 2:39:01 PM, [email protected] writes: << Helen, That is great news about the Naturalization Books & Petition Books! Since I am in another state and I can not walk into the court house to view a petition book...what would you suggest in the way of getting the courthouse to do a lookup. Do you know what it would cost? I happen to know the date my ancestor filed a petition but that's it. No date of arrival or even a photo. What poor planning on my part to have moved to Florida when all my folks were in PA. !! For the record - the one I'm looking for is: Joseph DALTON who petitioned the District Court of Philadelphia to become an American citizen. This petition was signed September 19, 1868 Thanks for any help or advise! Tina Culbertson >>
