    3. Helen, That is great news about the Naturalization Books & Petition Books! Since I am in another state and I can not walk into the court house to view a petition book...what would you suggest in the way of getting the courthouse to do a lookup. Do you know what it would cost? I happen to know the date my ancestor filed a petition but that's it. No date of arrival or even a photo. What poor planning on my part to have moved to Florida when all my folks were in PA. !! For the record - the one I'm looking for is: Joseph DALTON who petitioned the District Court of Philadelphia to become an American citizen. This petition was signed September 19, 1868 Thanks for any help or advise! Tina Culbertson

    3. Tina, If your ancestor petitioned the District court of Philadelphia, his naturalization should be in the court records of Philadelphia which, for that period of time, are generally held at the Philadelphia City Archives (Federal courts also did naturalizations and Nara has those records). They won't be in Delaware County records unless he naturalized in their courts. jo ----- Original Message ----- From: "Culbertson, Tina" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, September 27, 2002 10:35 AM Subject: Petition books > Helen, > > That is great news about the Naturalization Books & Petition Books! > Since I am in another state and I can not walk into the court house > to view a petition book...what would you suggest in the way of getting the > courthouse to do a lookup.
