Hi List, The Soldier and Sailor Walk Memorial at St. Martin’s Church Cemetery Dedication The dedication program is scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2003, 2:00 PM. The memorial is located directly behind old St. Martin’s Church, 225 Church Street. (Now, Bible Presbyterian.) In case of inclement weather the program will take place inside the church. The dedication program should last about 45 minutes to 1 hour. The raising of the American Flag (Colors) & (Taps) played by bugler, (Lloyd Spangler). There will be 73 flags in "flag emblem holders," for each war behind the 73 gravestones. (This should make a very beautiful picture with the large eagle & plaque.) There is supposed to be Color Guards from the Revolutionary War on up to present times. An opening prayer by my daughter, (Michellene Conte). (Bruce Dorbian), will give a short message on the history of this project. A short lecture by Ranger (Wm TROPPMAN) of Valley Forge National Historical Park. He will speak in regard to Marcus Hook & what part it played at the time of The Revolutionary War. Ranger (Wm TROPPMAN) will be dressed in full Revolutionary apparel with a saber sword. There will be the "rattling of the sword." I'm not sure what the "rattling of the sword" ceremony is but it sounds good! :) A small chorus from Chichester Senior High will sing two hymns/songs. My grandchildren, (Michael, Meaghan & Rebecca FOSS), will lay the wreath. A closing prayer by the Reverend of the Bible Presbyterian Church. (Which is now the conjugation in Old St. Martin's Church). Refreshments, (before & after dedication ceremony), in the church & the church is air conditioned. Here are the names of the veterans: Revolutionary War Soldiers & Patriot Name Born Died Rank 1.
