Well-known Foreman Stricken At His Work and Dies After Admission to the Hospital. Washington J. Williams well known and respected resident of the Second ward, died suddenly yesterday afternoon in the Chester Hospital, following a stroke. Deceased, who was foreman of the pipefitting department of the DuPont plant at Gibbstown, N.J., was seized with a violent attack of illness yesterday morning while engaged at his work and was brought to this city in the company's boat. He was taken to the hospital where he died a few hours later without regaining consciousness. Mr. Williams held a wide circle of friends and acquaintances and had been a resident of this city all his life. He was forty-eight years old. Besides his wife, he is survived by five children, William Jr., Elva, Jennie and Estella Williams, Mrs. Lewis J. Pierce, and two sisters, Mrs. George C. Davis and Miss Sarah Williams, both of this city. He was a brother of the late William H. Williams, former chief of police. Arrangements have been made to conduct the funeral services Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late residence at 1117 Upland Street. Rev. Frank J. Andrus, pastor of the Providence Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church, will officiate. Interment will be made at Chester Rural Cemetery.
