The terminology in the early 1900s was Grammar School not Elementary School. Horace Mann had grades from 1st to 6th & Dewey Mann was 7th & 8th grade, in the 1950s. Horace & Dewey Mann were located bet 3rd & 4th Sts. -- Horace Mann on the corner of 3rd & Jeffrey Sts. -- Dewey Mann on the corner of 3rd & Yarnall & was referred to as the Junior High. Clayton School in the early 1950s had a new & an old section. In the 1960s the old section was torn down & a new section added. The school then became Pulaski Middle School.
