November 29, 1865 DELAWARE COUNTY AMERICAN FIRES. - We have still to chronicle additional fires, and the fact that there seems to be little abatement in the crime of arson in our county. On Friday afternoon last about quarter past four o, the barn of Thomas MINSHALL, of Middletown, was set on fire, destroying the barn, a store house and wagon house, and all their contents. Over thirty tons of hay, a large quantity of straw and cornfodder, and wheat, corn and oats were consumed. The amount of insurance was $1900, which will not cover over half the loss. Also, on Sunday afternoon last about two o'clock, the barn of Israel YARNALL, occupied by his son, Chas. R. YARNALL, of Middletown, about one mile from the Black Horse tavern, was burned with all its contents, comprising over forty tons of hay, a lot of straw, and a horse valued at $175. The amount of insurance was $1086. No one was discovered near either of the these fires likely to be the incendiary, and suspicion points to no known individual. The question is generally discussed throughout the county, each man having his own peculiar opinion. The excitement is great and everywhere efforts are being made to capture to capture the incendiaries. One plan is to arrest all stragglers and suspicious looking persons, in the hope of finding the guilty. As a consequence several have been arrested during the week, and examined before Justice RIGBY, of this Borough.... Last week, in noticing the burning of Abel GREEN'S barn, in Nether Providence, we stated that some attributed the fire to friction from a threshing machine, which had been in operation in it throughout the day. We have since learned that there was no threshing done during the afternoon. There is no longer any doubt but that the fire was the act of an incendiary. The threshing machine belonged to Mr. BALDWIN, of Edgmont, who has replaced it with another.
