Can anyone tell me a little about this town? I need to look for an obit there but I don't know what township it is or the name of the local paper (in 1983). Any names of the local cemeteries would be very welcome also. Thank you. Stephen M. Kellogg
Stephen, Bryn Mawr is located in Lower Merion township, Montgomery County and has upscale, small town-like quality of living. It is sometimes called the Village of Bryn Mawr and is about 15 miles north west of Philadelphia. The local weekly paper is The Main Line Times and they do carry obituaries but your best bet would be the Philadelphia Inquirer. The Inquirer archives are online at http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/archives/ Be sure you are looking at the Inquirer and not the Daily News; I believe there is a small fee for an article. The Main Line Times office is located at 311 E. Lancaster Ave., Ardmore, Pa. 19003; the phone is 610.642.4300 and, if you input www.mainlinetimes.com you will be taken to their web site but I'm not sure if it has searchable archives. Two cemeteries in the area that Catholics would use are Calvary cemetery at Gulph and Matsonford Rd., West Conshohocken 610 525 2214 or St. Peter and Paul, 1600 S. Sproul Rd., Springfield, Delaware County 610.544.4933. Hope this helps you.
