    2. Culbertson, Tina
    3. This may not help at all but there was a Farriday family that lived two houses down from us in Brookhaven in the 1960s. The dad or the son's name was Jerry (or Gerald) and the other one was Michael. Can't remember if it was the son or father named Jerry. The daughter was Sallie. The father would have been about 40 years old in the early 1960s. They lived on Commerce Avenue. 1. [PADELAWA] Job Descriptions
    2. Alan & Lynn
    3. Hi . . . Does anyone have a web-site that explains old job descriptions? I would like to know what a "Carter" was. My guess is someone who dealt with clothing but . . . would he have been a Tailor? or just a salesman. This would have been during the 1780's. My husband thinks that he would have worked with wool . . . carding wool. Would he have made wool clothing? possibly raised sheep? Any ideas will be helpful. Thank you .. . . 2. I am trying to find the time and place where my g-g-gf was baptized, probably c1830, as well as his place of burial in Aug. of 1856. Death occurred in Ridley Township where the family settled. Has anyone found baptism records for the following siblings of John Henry Lascomb/Lascum, etc., which would be a clue as to the church the family attended: Elizabeth Lascum married ________Harrison Thomas Lascomb b1833, married Ellen Cannon William Lascum b1834, married Elvina Nickel Hannah Lascum b1835, married O. Weed Rudolph Rebecca Lascum b1838, married James Deputy Margaret Lascum b1842, married John Carey George Lascum b1845, married Mary Morton Mary Lascum b1851, married Washington Knight There were other siblings as follows: Ellen b1855, Jesse b1849, James b1846, Jane b1844 and David b1840. My records do not include marriages for these, so I don't know the married names of the females if they were wed. No BDM records have surfaced for John Henry. Any help is most appreciated, and thank you !! Dori in So. Calif

    1. Re: [PADELAWA] John Crooks - Farmer
    2. thank you for your response. A kind recipient of the list found John Crooks in the 1910 census in Montgomery County, Upper Merion Township. I was then able to locate him again and his family in Lower Providence Township in Montgomery County. This seems to be the right one. So from what I have it does not appear the family ever lived or at least during that time period in Delaware County. Thank you again for responding. Dottie in OH

    3. It can also make a difference whether you get the list in regular or digest form. And whether you are using a mail program, or reading it on the web. I read this on the web at gmail. Probably it's a combination of the format (digest/regular) and the word processing program. I don't have a Mac, either, but it came out funny for me in the digest, and fine when she sent it to me in a separate email. Lynn

    1. [PADELAWA] Simeon Lord
    2. Hello, I am researching the family of Simeon Lord, born in England around 1808. Simeon was a mill man in Nether Providence and then in Darby. His wife, Sarah Verlenden Lord came another family who owned mills in Darby. In later census records this family is found living on Darby Road. It would be great to find descendants of this clan and share information. Regards, Bev W

    3. I suspect the difference between the message that gave you trouble and previous ones from Helen is the troublesome one involved a cut-and-paste from her word processing program. The others were probably typed directly into her e-mail program -- or perhaps didn't involve the tabulation spaces she appears to have used this time. A little over a year ago, I had the reverse of your problem. The e-mail program I was using then couldn't properly handle German characters produced by a Windows e-mail program. To handle translations a cousin was doing for me, we resorted to cutting-and-pasting from a Word document he sent as an attachment. It got the proper characters into my e-mail going to Germany. My current version of the e-mail program doesn't need that work around. -- Karl Seitz >If I wrote a terrabyte of RAM, I was getting ahead of >myself............... that's a terrabyte of hard drives which is no >big deal today, what with 500g hard drives becoming dirt cheap. > >I will have my son look at my settings.
