    1. [PADELAWA] TYLY/TALLY
    2. Judy Ardine
    3. The 1743 will of Henry PIERCE lists one of his daughters as Ann TYLY. I have a copy of the original will and that is the best spelling I can come up with from the handwriting. Another person who also transcribed the will had no better luck w/the spelling than I did. What other surname besides TALLY would you think TYLY could be? I sure can't find another tidbit of information about any Ann TYLY or "any" TYLY in Chester, Delaware or Philadelphia cntys, PA, nor in New Castle cnty, DE or Cecil cnty, MD. *sigh* Judy

    1. Re: [PADELAWA] Blue Ball Ave - How did get it's name?
    2. Most Interesting> There is another Blue Ball Farm, in Chester County. It is on the N. side of the PRR tracks at Daylesford between the Lincoln Highway and Bear Hill, Rt. 202. I am away from home and my sources, so that's a guess. Blue Ball Inn sits at the corner of Roberts Road in back of Daylesford Train Station. In the mid 1700s the farm and Inn were acquired by Dr. Bernardus VanLeer of Marple Township. He left parts of it (including the Inn) it to his daughter, Mary VanLeer Moore, and to his son, Isaac Wayne VanLeer. Isaac died in middle-age, leaving a wife and about 10 kids, and very little money. His farm was sold and resold over the years, though smaller and smaller pieces of it remained in the VanLeer family. Today, that land belongs to Conestoga High School and its school buildings and athletic fields cover much of the acreage. A VanLeer log cabin, part of the farm in the early 1800s, remains as an historical building. The school and its students have kept it up as a history lesson for years.. Mary left her farm to her daughter, Priscilla Moore Robinson -- and it is Prissy's ghost who is said to haunt the Inn. Prissy married three, maybe four, times: Robinson, Cahill, Reese, and ? She had no children of her own, so she left her estate to the daughters of her sister, Mary. Prissy lived to be 100 years old and is buried in Great Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, as Priscilla Robinson, I think. The ghost story is that the remains of three bodies were found buried under the cellar's dirt floor, and they are believe to be Prissy's 3 husbands: Legend has it she killed them all. Nice! And her ghost wanders the rooms of the Inn (now a home) at night, wearing a bloody nightgown and the noises heard ore those of closets and drawers opening and shutting as she frantically searches for a clean gown. And yes, Priscilla had a tavern license and did a good business as an inkeeper and stage station. Real ghosts in our closets.
