Hi Shelley, I believe I saw this surname or a similar one posted on either Armstrong Co., or Westmoreland Co. -- these (2) counties are next to Allegheny Co. Would you mind if I posted your inquiry there & refer them back to you? I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as Lucetta Gould BECHDOLT which was taken at the D. Mahan Studio in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Fellow genealogists and anyone concerned with preserving our sacred cemeteries, The History Channel and Time Warner are sponsoring a 'Save Our History' grant award for which anyone can go online and cast their vote. Voting ends THIS FRIDAY April 27th, so time is short. We were fortunate that our restoration project was chosen as a finalist. The JCOGS is the only genealogy society or cemetery project to be chosen as one of the five finalists, so I truly hope that you will go to the Time Warner website and cast your vote for the James Cemetery project. If awarded this grant, we will use 100% of the grant to begin installing an antique-style aluminum alloy fence around the perimeter in order to help halt further desecration of this sacred and historic burial ground. You can read more about our James Cemetery project at the Time Warner 'Save Our History' voting website. Please unite with us as a group of genealogists concerned about the ever-increasing destruction of our cemeteries by VOTING for us at the website below. And note also that ANYONE with Internet access can VOTE so please forward this email to your genealogy circle of friends and ask THEM to vote too! Searching for information on descendants of Philip VanLeer, b. July 28, 2867 to William Grover VanLeer and Amy Mullen VanLeer in or near Aston, Delaware County. Would like to share family information. Marjorie Winter, New Bern, NC
Thank you, Helen. Quite possibly it is. There are enough Robert EYREs to keep one busy a long time. I certainly wish SS hadn't raised the rate on purchasing copies of the SS application!!!! *sigh* This can get expensive. But ..... at least the copies are available! Judy

KILL (creek) & KILLE ("riverbed" or "water channel") As a body of water, a kill is a creek. The word comes from the Middle Dutch kille, meaning "riverbed" or "water channel." The modern Dutch term is kil. The term is used in areas of Dutch influence in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware & Marinade and other areas of the former New Netherland colony & New Sweden colony of Dutch America to describe a strait, river or arm of the sea. Examples are Kill Van Kull and Arthur Kill, both separating Staten Island, New York from New Jersey, and used as a composite name, Wallkill River in Orange County, New York and the Schuylkill River in Pennsylvania. In Delaware, there ironically exists "Murderkill." Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS) ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

I'm searching for info on Bernard Maloy, born Ireland approx 1833, died Chester PA between 1876 and 1880. Is it possible to get a death certificate for that time period? Would a death certificate list the names of his parents or place of birth? Liz New York, NY
Helen, I read the same article. It's amazing that it took this long before anyone looked closely at the McCoys. I don't recall reading whether anyone ever checked the Hatfields for the same condition............ especially when you consider that the feud was limited to those families.
