I've not seen it, Karen, but have relied on extracts drawn from it -- correctly, I hope. Helen, here's what the Lewis Palmer on the Trimble family shows: Ann Trimble was the daughter of James and Mary (Palmer) Trimble and was born in West Bradford in 1741 (11 mo. 17, 1741) and died 4 mo. 18, 1828. She married in 1762 Abiah Taylor, son of Samuel and Mary (Smedley) Taylor. He was born 9 mo. 29, 1738 and died 12 mo. 3, 1801. Their children: Mary, b. 6 mo. 16, 1763, d. 4 mo. 7, 1836 Samuel, b. 12 mo. 27, 1764, d. 7 mo. 14, 1842 Sarah, b. 2 mo. 21, 1767, d. 5 mo. 11, 1845 Ann, b. 8 mo. 4, 1769, d. 5 mo. 11, 1828 Abiah, b. 5 mo. 9, 1772, d. 11 mo. 8, 1852 Deborah, b. 4 mo. 13, 1774, d. 6 mo. 5, 1852 George, b. 2 mo. 25, 1775, d. 6 mo. 24, 1817 James, b. 12 mo. 2, 1782, d. 5 mo. 4, 1863 The problem here though is that none of the male children in this line ever married and had children. The brothers ran the family farm together but there is no indication in Palmer's book that any of them ever had families. The family records are in the meeting records for Bradford MM. -Mary http://chestercountygenealogy.com At 08:26 AM 5/1/2007, you wrote: >Good morning list, > > I have the following descendant chart for Elizabeth TAYLOR but >I have no dates. Mark, Do you have a copy of this publication? I've been trying to get one for ages. In the 1980s, I corresponded with Andrew and still have his letter in which he stated that he had seen the actual parish records for Robert's marriage and that Robert's wife was definitely Hannah Hyandson, NOT Elizabeth Hyandson. Evidently, /someone/ had transcribed the records incorrectly, skipping a line and picking up the name of Elizabeth instead of Hannah. So I'm surprised to learn that Andrew would have included this error in his otherwise precise genealogical research. Karen Greim Mullian kmullian@verizon.net Mark E. I have a lot of Taylors, but none of them hit these people mentioned. I do have an Ann Trimble but I don't know who she married so I can't say it's the same one or not... I have: Ann Trimble b 01/25/1851 in Chester Co., PA born to Stephen Mendenhall Trimble (b 04/10/1810, d 09/12/1898) and Lydia Sharpless (b 01/02/1812, d 10/16/1891) That's about all I have to help with at the moment. -Paula -----Original Message----- From: padelawa-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:padelawa-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of HMWEBBER@aol.com Sent: Tuesday, May 01, 2007 8:26 AM To: PADELAWA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [PADELAWA] Abiah TAYLOR to Elizabeth TAYLOR Good morning list, I have the following descendant chart for Elizabeth TAYLOR but I have no dates. Thanks for the info, Helen.
Would these tax lists only show land owners? Because most of the people I'm looking for worked in the textile mills and I doubt that they owned any real estate. Thanks.
"a series of tax lists compiled every seven years from 1799 through 1863" I have seen many of these tax lists posted on this site. I don't know if you search the archives for a surname if the results from the tax lists will come up. I personally have found some of my ancestors on the tax lists and found them to be a valuable resource. Karen ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
PA STATE CENSUS Very good question! :) The State of Penna. never did a State Census. There is a very good reference book on the state census records: "S*T*A*T*E CENSUS RECORDS" by Ann S. Lainhart. Some of the counties in the State of Penna. did take a census but Delaware County did NOT -- sorry to say. Chester County DID -- in 1842 & 1857 Census. (That I know of, there may be more.) Regarding Phila. & other cities-- I do not know. PA State Census' from Ancestry's Red Book PA never took state census but... "a series of tax lists compiled every seven years from 1799 through 1863 is commonly called the Septennial Census. These records have only survived in small numbers and are usually in the office of the county commissioner; copies available at the state archives are probably duplicates."
