Hi List! I know this is going to sound strange, but does anyone have or know where I can get the original pictures of the house that my home sits on from back in the 1890's-1950's? My property shows that back on the 1890's map that it was once owned by one of the Sam Riddles, either Senior or Junior here on what is known as Mt. Alverno Road in Middletown(Glenloch) for awhile known as Glenecho? Problem is my house is not the original house, but that of the owner who bought the property off of Sam Riddle Jr. after a fire destroyed the original Victorian house that once sat here. I know the Middletown Library does have pictures of some various older estates from the area, but has anyone noticed lately a picture of this location? I know there are tons of Frank Lees's pictures in the Upper Providence Library, but does anyone have any idea of when he started taking pictures? The Sam Riddle Estate might have already been gone by then as my house was built in the early 50's? How far back does Lees pictures go does anyone know off hand? Anyway, I would appreciate any help with this matter. Thanks so much, Esther On Jul 12, 2007, at 9:29 PM, TomYarn@aol.com wrote: > > In a message dated 7/12/2007 9:52:14 A.M. Hi lists, I met with Garet GUNTHER this morning & here are the GRUBB references he gave me: 1. "GRUBBS of Tipperary" by Geoffrey WATKINS. 2. "GRUBBS Around the Globe" by Geoffrey WATKINS. 3. "Cricketer - C. T. Studd" by Norman GRUBB. 4. "Ignatitus? GRUBB" author unknown, (Owned the GRUBB House & GRUBB's Landing in Claymont, DE). 5. "Descendants of John GRUBB" by David GRUBB, (Mayor in NJ). 6. The University of Delaware, in the Special Collection Section of their Library, has a lot of info on the GRUBB Family. On the UD website some of this GRUBB reference info is mentioned but NOT all of it. You would have to visit the library to get a better overview of all the GRUBB Books, Records & Documents, etc., housed there. 7. "The GRUBB Family" Early Texas Pioneer Family At Cottenwood Creek by Bill G. GRUBBS NOTE: Glenda Grubbs CALLANEN is still collecting info on all of the GRUBB Family -- please contact her at: Glenda Grubbs CALLANEN 2712 3rd St. Santa Monica, CA 90406 (310) 314-5212 GGCALLANANEN@aol.com NOTE: This info is from Irene, the librarian at the Marcus Hook Library in Marcus Hook, Delaware Co., PA. Helen, I'm the one who gave you Claire's name. she has been a friend of mine for years. I can give you her phone number again. You can call me.?I'll try to write to you off line. I have a whole Smiley family buried in that cemetery.?Claire tells me you can't even get in there anymore. I was there about 19 years ago and at least we could walk in there and take photos of the stones. Kathy contacted me about a year ago looking for info & has found the following but she has not been able to find the sexton records: "From what I understand, the old church was torn down in 1951, when Louis Filipone purchased the church and built his family hardware store... which is now owned by Albert and Georgette Voehringer.? For what I have learned, the cemetery seems to be in trust with Wachovia Bank, but it is very sketchy.? Wachovia bank sent copies of the deed (showing the purchase in 1951 and then again in 1984 to the Voehringer).? I spoke with Georgette and she confirmed the story... I also spoke with Bobby Filipone (son of Louis Filipone, who originally purchased the old church)." I spoke to a "Claire" back then, by phone, trying to find info for Kathy about the Baptist Church Cemetery in Radnor but I have since lost her phone #. Would anyone happen to know "Claire" & have her phone #? Please e-mail off list. Perhaps someone can help me. I was going crazy looking for the death date and place of burial of my grandfather's brother. I had to do two 10=year searches. Finally a death cert bearing the death date of March 5, 1936. Problem is the burial place states what looks like "Milion Pa". Any guesses? Thanks!
I agree totally!!!!! Thank you Helen... Dottie in Ohio ************************************** Get a sneak peak of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
