    3. Hi Lynn . . . More good suggestions. Have you ever thought of teaching a class on "Hidden sources"? You must have come down this road before. Regarding the name of Lynn. I was always told that "Lynn" was an Irish name and it meant "babbling brook". Boy, was I named appropriately. :-) I definitely have the "Gift of Gab" . . . 3. To Lynn (nice name) and Ethel . . . Thank you for your suggestions and insight. My Isaiah and Tacy I think may have been born abt. 1760 or later. My Isaiah died between 28 Jun and 18 Jul 1798. He may have died with the Yellow Fever epidemic. The time-line is correct as is the area. His Will states that he was from Southwark, Philadelphia and his trade was that of a Carter. Tacy died in 1810 in Newtown Square. I have her as a "Widow Werle and 2 sons" on an 1805 Tax Census in Philadelphia. So I know that she moved after 1805 to Newtown Square in Delaware county. I have the burial records for the Media Cemetery as well as the Middletown Friends and Sandy Bank. There are WORRELL's, unfortudately not mine (as far as I know). I will look into (literally) the other cemeteries that you mentioned. Thank you Ethel for Keith Lockhart's website. Fascinating reading. I love history, especially where my family is involved. Some counties have partial access to old deeds online by now, but Delaware Co offers online access to deed transfers filed since about 1982. The best way is to go to the office, look at the index, and ask to see the deeds you think might be yours; generally they're on microfilm; you can get a photocopy of appropriate deeds. You can also arrange to get copies by phone and mail. Here is the website of the Delaware Co PA Recorder of Deeds with a phone number: http://www.co.delaware.pa.us/depts/recorder.html

    3. It doesn't sound strange at all! LOL I wouldn't just look in Newtown Square for cemeteries - also try the Media Cemetery, Calvary Cemetery in Media, Old Union in Rose Tree, and the Middletown Friends/Newtown Square Friends/Sandy Bank and Providence MM burial grounds. Rootsweb has a list of cemeteries, you can also look in Findagrave and print out the lists for Delaware County. When were they born? And do you know Tacy's last name or parents? Sometimes finding the burial place of a parent is a good indicator of where the children are buried as well. A lot of the cemeteries or churches/meetings associated with them *don't* have burial records - Swarthmore doesn't have burial records for many of the non-quaker cemeteries. I would also check out the Delaware County Historical Society if you have time, they do have a book and I think it's fairly complete (with the older records, anyway). Their hours are very limited, though. Also if the people were born before 1792, they might be under Chester County records as well (and the Chester County Historical Society has a lot of cemetery records, too). Happy Hunting! Lynn >>This will be my last chance to find my missing couple "Isaiah and Tacy WORRELL" as my son will graduate from Temple next May. I hope that I will be able to find them quickly as most of my research will be at Swarthmore. I am looking forward to taking in some of the Historical sights this time. I do have one question though . . . how many cemeteries are there in Newtown Square? What facility will have burial records? Thank you in advance for your help . . .

    1. Re: [PADELAWA] (no subject)
    2. Hi List, I have a question about the Ancestry's Military Records. I'm having trouble finding my grandfathers records from this area. I have his certificates and all, but I was hoping to locate them in the Ancestry's records. Problem is, He was already serving during the period 1929 to 1936 and again in 1944 to 1945. So where do I look for his records in the search sections. Would he still be listed under the WWll draft registrations? I can't seem to find the appropriate sections in order to find him. His first enlistment was with the National Guards to which his rating no#'s does not coincide with that which I found so far. His second enlistment was in the Navy to which again it looks like the only search option falls within the Officers. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks in Advance Esther > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > PADELAWA-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in > the subject and the body of the message

    2. Hi lists, More questions: Does anyone know if the Brandywine Historical Guild still exists? Where is it? Where was it located? What did they do? Did they have anything to do with the reproduction of Civil War furniture? A man, last name of PEARSON, has contacted the Concord Historical Society -- he has a reproduction of the table GRANT used when General LEE surrendered. On the bottom of the table is stamped -- Brandywine Historical Guild & Concordville, PA. PEARSON would like to know some info about the table. Who made it & was he a carpenter in Concordville? Did the Brandywine Historical Guild sell Civil War furniture? What connection do they have to the table? Interesting!! Thank you very much for any help & suggestions you can give us to help solve this mystery. :) Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS) ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
