1. Bonsall Historical Society/Bonsall Research Group
2. Good evening, everyone, I would like to take a moment to announce a few Bonsall-related items: 2003 marks the 320th anniversary of the arrival of Richard and Mary (Wood) Bonsall in Pennsylvania. Therefore, the 2003 Bonsall Family Reunion hopes to be something special. In preparation for next year's reunion, the Bonsall Historical Society has launched a web site, http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~bonsall2003/ or Bonsall Historical Society for AOL users. The site is just getting up and running, with only one operating link at the moment to an announcement about the reunion. As well as adding information about the reunion, in the near future we will add links to the new Bonsall Research Group at Yahoo <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Bonsall_Research_Group/ > or Yahoo! Groups : Bonsall_Research_Group and to our online genealogical database at Rootsweb World Connect (coming soon). 2. Hi List, Part 1 In the 1850 Federal Census for the Spruce Ward, in Reading, Berks Co., PA, USA, the census taker recorded the county where a person immigrated from in Ireland. This is a very unusual find -- the following is an index of the surnames I found. If you find a connection please e-mail me -- I may have more info on the family. 1. New Genealogy Info -- a new service available!
2. Hi lists, I just received a copy of a death certificate, today, from: New York Department of Records & Information Services Office of the Commissioner 31 Chambers Street, Suite 305 New York, NY I also received a letter, with it, stating they have photographic records of every house & building from circa 1939-1941 in New York City. They go on to say, this would be a very unique gift for any one interested in genealogy - family history. If you have the exact street address and/or block & lot number for the building you will be able to order a photo. $25.00 for 8" x 10" $35.00 for 11" x 14" plus postage (high-quality black & white prints) I think this is really great that you can obtain a photo of the family home or business. If NYC is doing this you may want to look for other cities & towns across the US, who may have the same service available. :) To those of you who are interested in New York City & this service: Phone: (212) 788-8580 Website: www.nyc.gov/html/doris Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)

2. Jo Schwartz
3. Tina, If your ancestor petitioned the District court of Philadelphia, his naturalization should be in the court records of Philadelphia which, for that period of time, are generally held at the Philadelphia City Archives (Federal courts also did naturalizations and Nara has those records). They won't be in Delaware County records unless he naturalized in their courts. jo ----- Original Message ----- From: "Culbertson, Tina" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, September 27, 2002 10:35 AM Subject: Petition books > Helen, > > That is great news about the Naturalization Books & Petition Books! > Since I am in another state and I can not walk into the court house > to view a petition book...what would you suggest in the way of getting the > courthouse to do a lookup. 2. Your welcome Tina, I have, also, noticed some people would go to Philadelphia, PA, to file for naturalization instead of filing in the county where they lived -- why, I have no idea. My Patrick TUTTLE did the same thing in 1880. NATURALIZATION -- Philadelphia, PA 2nd Oct 1880 Patrick TUTTLE, Chester, PA, took oath. 1851 arrived in Baltimore, MD. Witness was: John McSHANE of Chester, PA. Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS) In a message dated 9/27/2 4:53:40 PM, [email protected] writes: << Thank you Helen. 2. Hi Tina, You need to contact the District Court of Philadelphia, for the information you requested from me. The Delaware County Courts have nothing to do with papers/petitions/documents filed in Philadelphia. 1. Naturalization Books & Petition Books for Naturalization at the DCCH
2. Good morning, I want to thank everyone who made phone calls, wrote letters & sent e-mails to the Delaware County Court House (DCCH), in regard to research records -- making it known that the public was not pleased with the few genealogy records made available to us! I have seen some improvement :) Please read on! About a month ago, I asked about Naturalization Records & was lead to an area where the following Naturalization Books are stored in the Office of Judicial Support, (near the Passport Office). These records have never been available to the public before. Here is information regarding the Naturalization Books: Volume: Date: #1 27 Feb 1860 - 27 Sep 1876 #2 27 Sep 1876 - 20 Oct 1883 #3 25 Oct 1883 - 23 Sep 1886 #4 23 Sep 1886 - 27 Sep 1888 #5 27 Sep 1888 - 2 Oct 1890 #6 2 Oct 1890 - 3 Oct 1892 #7 3 Oct 1892 - 7 Oct 1892 #8 7 Oct 1892 - 30 Dec 1892 #9 30 Dec 1892 - 13 Mar 1893 #10 13 Mar 1893 - 17 Sep 1894 #11 17 Sep 1894 - 2 Oct 1896 #12 2 Oct 1896 - 22 Sep 1897 #13 22 Sep 1897 - 28 Sep 1899 #14 28 Sep 1899? - 23 Mar 1903? (missing)* #15 23 Mar 1903 - 23 Sep 1906 *Rumor has it -- this Naturalization Book may be at the Neumann College Library -- sent there by mistake when the Tax Dockets were sent to Neumann, a few years ago. The information in these books, gives the name & date the immigrant became a citizen, the country they immigrated from & the name(s) of the witness(es). Little else is available in these documents. Now, for the Petition Books for Naturalization -- these books are just fabulous for genealogy information! :) They contain the following documents: 1. Certificate of Arrival 2. Declaration of Intention 3. Petition of Naturalization In the above named documents you have: Photo IDs; names; dates of birth; place of birth, (town, city, county, region); date of immigration; wife's name (if married) & some times info on her; occupation; etc. I only had the pleasure of viewing Volume #39 -- the rest are in storage & will be brought to the court house soon -- so I was told. Very soon, I hope, because these books are invaluable. This could not have been accomplished without your support. Many, many thanks! Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS) P.S. Please pass this info on to others, who are interested in the records at the Delaware County Court House.

1. James A. Bayard ATKINS b. 1816 & James A. BAYNARD
2. Good morning lists, I sent this out yesterday but I never received a copy -- I don't know if anyone else did -- so I'm posting again. Very sorry if you receive this more than once. Hi list, I'm posting this query for a friend -- please respond to: [email protected] -- not to me. :) Thank you! Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS) Hi: My name is Helen FALLS -- my grandfather was Alonzo B. ATKINS, his father was Josiah Alonzo Bayard ATKINS, b. 1846, his father was James Alonza Bayard ATKINS b. 1816. I have been unable to find the father & mother of James A. Bayard ATKINS. I think that he may have married a daughter of the James A. BAYARD family who were in Wilmington, Del. and were congressmen for Delaware. I visited Chester Co. Historical Society, DCHS, Swarthmore College, Archives in West Chester, and found a lot of biographical information but not the children of the BAYARD, I am looking for. Since they were so prominent in Delaware I feel that it would not to hard to find out whether my theory is correct. I was in Pa. but discovered this information on Friday, but had to return here to Florida on the 22nd of Sep. Is there anyone that would have any info or suggestion that would be of help to me Thank you, Helen R. Falls
