    3. Well....a year of death would help immensely, huh?! Charles L COBB died in 1878. Thanks! Tina -----Original Message----- From: Culbertson, Tina Sent: Thursday, February 20, 2003 3:05 PM To: [email protected] Subject: OBIT HELP Could SKS do me a great favor and look for an obituary for me. I want to pay for your time, etc. so if you'd be willing to help me out I'd like to reimburse you! Looking for death info, and have particular interest in the survivors listed, for: Charles COBB who died at the approx. age of 37. He was married to Kate (Van Riper) Cobb and had several children. I have heard he is buried at a cemtery named Arlington but don't know it's location. Maybe Lansdowne? It's not the national cemetery but one in Delaware County. I would appreciate any help. Thanks, Tina in Florida

    1. Re: Bryn Mawr, Delaware Co.
    2. Mary Ann
    3. Stephen, Bryn Mawr is located in Lower Merion township, Montgomery County and has upscale, small town-like quality of living. It is sometimes called the Village of Bryn Mawr and is about 15 miles north west of Philadelphia. The local weekly paper is The Main Line Times and they do carry obituaries but your best bet would be the Philadelphia Inquirer. The Inquirer archives are online at http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/archives/ Be sure you are looking at the Inquirer and not the Daily News; I believe there is a small fee for an article. The Main Line Times office is located at 311 E. Lancaster Ave., Ardmore, Pa. 19003; the phone is 610.642.4300 and, if you input www.mainlinetimes.com you will be taken to their web site but I'm not sure if it has searchable archives. Two cemeteries in the area that Catholics would use are Calvary cemetery at Gulph and Matsonford Rd., West Conshohocken 610 525 2214 or St. Peter and Paul, 1600 S. Sproul Rd., Springfield, Delaware County 610.544.4933. Hope this helps you. 1. John Quinlan and Mary Doyle
    2. Sally Edgley
    3. Does anyone recognise these names please. We are seeking the descendents of John and Mary Quinlan (nee Doyle). I will give a short history of the couple in the hope that someone will connect with the names. John, born 1881 in Tipperary, Ireland, son of Michael Quinlan and Johanna Cahil appears to have arrived in Philadelphia in 1893 initially. Mary Doyle, declared born in 1885 but actually 1883 in Carlow, Ireland, daughter of Michael Doyle and Sarah Culleton arrived in Philadelphia in 1902, back to Ireland 1905 and back to Philadelphia, to her brother Peter Doyle, in 1907. John and Mary married in Wayne Township, Delaware County, PA in 1910 and had four children, John F in 1911, Margaret F in 1915, Teresa M in Nov/Dec 1916 and Mary in 1921. John was a blacksmith and we have plotted the family from Wayne in 1910 to Radnor, Delaware Co in 1920 and to Bryn Mawr, Montgomery Co in 1930. There appears to be a few Quinlans in the vicinity who are blacksmiths and probably related one way or the other! We would like to find the final resting places of John and Mary and any living descendents. Realistically we are probably looking for the grandchildren of John and Mary but any information or leads would be gratefully received. Many Many thanks, Sally _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself with cool emoticons http://messenger.msn.co.uk

    1. Re: FLOWER - LINCOLN --looking for correct info!
    2. In a message dated 1/30/03 7:23:59 AM Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: > I thank everyone very much for all the advice &help in finding > the parents of Rebecca LINCOLN, who m. John LINCOLN &where > she was married but I'm concerned about this info &is it correct? > Since Helen has raised the question, I went back into some material that I'd gathered from the (fat) files the DCHS. Abraham Lincoln's descent from Enoch and Rebecca (Barnard) Flower through their daughter, Rebecca, was detailed by researcher David Keiser in the 1950s. In addition to Keiser's details, I am looking at a 1962 AP story quoting Quaker scholar Henry Cadbury's reaction to Keiser's work: "...if Lincoln's paternal great-grandfather was not a Quaker, he at least married into a family tht was Quaker on both sides." (Note: Since Quakers were forbidden to marry out, it seems to me that he must have been a Quaker, though possibly a new one.) In the Fall 1961 issue of the Lincoln Herald, Keiser detailed what he had found in the minutes of Concord Monthly Meeting of which (I presume) Chichester was a part: On Feb. 13, 1713, and March 6, 1713, "Enoch Flower & Rebekah Barnet, both belonging to this Meeting" declared their intentions of marriage. On April 8, 1713, the marriage was reported as "accomplished." Keiser identifies the parents of Enoch as William and Elizabeth (Moris) Flower (m. 1692, PA), and the parents of Rebecca Barnard as Richard and Frances (Lambe) Barnard (m. 1678, England). The parents of Frances Lambe were Richard and Lucy (Bailie) Lambe (m. 9-23-1639). Mark E. Dixon

    1. FLOWER - LINCOLN --looking for correct info!
    2. Good morning, I thank everyone very much for all the advice & help in finding the parents of Rebecca LINCOLN, who m. John LINCOLN & where she was married but I'm concerned about this info & is it correct? At: http://www.markedixon.com/retrospect.htm -- there is an article "Land of LINCOLN: Boothwyn." In this article, it mentioned Rebecca FLOWER m. John LINCOLN at Boothwyn Quaker Meetinghouse Feb or Mar 1743. I'm trying to find out if she did marry in Boothwyn? Are her parents really Enoch FLOWER & Rebecca Bernard? There is also another website with LINCOLN info: <A HREF="http://www.genealogymagazine.com/famouskin.html">Famous KIN</A> http://www.genealogymagazine.com/famouskin.html I know of the FLOWER Family being in the Chi area: 1701 -- Land owner: John FLOWER 1715 -- Taxable males Lower Chi: William FLOWER John FLOWER (freeman) 1715 -- Upper Chi Taxes: Enock FLOWER 1722 -- Taxable in U & L Chi John FLOWER 1760 -- John WALL & John CRAWFORD were chosen successors of Walter MARTIN, Philip ROMAN & John FLOWER as clerks of the Market in Marcus Hook. I know some of the FLOWER Family is buried at St. Martin's Cemetery in Marcus Hook. Where is Rebecca's father buried? Hence, I would like to find proof of where Rebecca FLOWER & John LINCOLN married & who her parents are via a marriage record, her father's or mother's will, or another relatives will, a newspaper article. If Rebecca's father is buried in Delaware Co. or Chester Co. I would like to see a marker placed at the cemetery denoting as such! The FLOWER & LINCOLN Families are not related to me -- I'm just trying to solve a historic mystery! :) Happy hunting, Helen (DCHS)

    3. Hello, As a member of the Delaware County Institute of Science (a very cool place, by the way), I just received notice of an upcoming lecture that may be of interest to some list members: "The Delaware County Institute of Science 11 Veterans Square Media, Pennsylvania 19063 Edward V. Streeper Memorial Lecture J. Joseph Edgette, PhD., Widener University Delco's First Necropolis: Chester Rural Cemetery Founded in 1863, Chester Rural Cemetery was the first and only in Delaware County to fit the tradition of a "rural" cemetery. This well-kept "city of the dead" became the final resting place for thousands of famous, and infamous, citizens. Slides will be used to illustrate the origin, evolution and current structure of the cemetery as well as some of its more noteworthy "residents." Sponsored by Catania & Parker, Esqs.
