Hi To All, This e-mail is in connection with the one I sent a bit earlier to the list, but I have posted seperately, so as not to cause any confusion Is there any way that I can get a photograph of The Good Samaritan Home in Radnor?? Are there any records stating, who lived at the home between the years of 1913-1920??? I am desperate for help on this, I live in the United Kingdom. Any ideas, advice or help however small. 3. Hi To All, I am looking for any information on a MATTHEW TURNBULL, he was mentioned on the 1920 census. This is the information I have on him: MATTHEW TURNBULL age 13yrs Birthplace England Roll T625_1562 Race White Page 11A State Pennslyvania ED 192 County Delaware Image 1011 Township Radnor He was living at the Good Samaritan Home. I think his mother MARTHA TURNBULL, put him in the home. Because I think his father THOMAS TURNBULL, died sometime between the years of 1913-1920. Can anyone suggest how I can find more information about MATTHEW? Are there any photographs on the internet regarding the township Radnor? Many thanks Pauline.

    3. Pauline, I looked at the census image that you cited and the home is the Good Shepherd home not Good Samaritan. That area is very close to where I live and it consists of very old row or twin homes. there is a street named Good Shepherd Terrace and I would imagine that's where this home was located although the street that is listed on the census image is Old Lancaster Rd. In the township today, there is no such road. If you would like, I can research this further but not until this Saturday as I will be away. Mary Ann Barrow Villanova, Pa.

    3. Thank you, Mary Ann. I forgot that you can click on the persons name and get the actual pension roll. It will make the job easier at the National Archives. 3. I am descended from George W. Lister, Jr.. Sometimes it is spelled Lyster, Lester, Leister. This family begins with James and Ann Lister emigrating from England in the 1840's. The family spent most of their lives in Delaware County and especially around Middletown and Chester. Is there possible anyone out there that might be related to me? I have a lot of information but am always seeking more. Gerry Tostenson Mankato, Minnesota

    1. War Veterans from Delaware & Chester Counties, PA & State of DE
    2. Hi List, The Soldier and Sailor Walk Memorial at St. Martin’s Church Cemetery Dedication The dedication program is scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2003, 2:00 PM. The memorial is located directly behind old St. Martin’s Church, 225 Church Street. (Now, Bible Presbyterian.) In case of inclement weather the program will take place inside the church. The dedication program should last about 45 minutes to 1 hour. The raising of the American Flag (Colors) & (Taps) played by bugler, (Lloyd Spangler). There will be 73 flags in "flag emblem holders," for each war behind the 73 gravestones. (This should make a very beautiful picture with the large eagle & plaque.) There is supposed to be Color Guards from the Revolutionary War on up to present times. An opening prayer by my daughter, (Michellene Conte). (Bruce Dorbian), will give a short message on the history of this project. A short lecture by Ranger (Wm TROPPMAN) of Valley Forge National Historical Park. He will speak in regard to Marcus Hook & what part it played at the time of The Revolutionary War. Ranger (Wm TROPPMAN) will be dressed in full Revolutionary apparel with a saber sword. There will be the "rattling of the sword." I'm not sure what the "rattling of the sword" ceremony is but it sounds good! :) A small chorus from Chichester Senior High will sing two hymns/songs. My grandchildren, (Michael, Meaghan & Rebecca FOSS), will lay the wreath. A closing prayer by the Reverend of the Bible Presbyterian Church. (Which is now the conjugation in Old St. Martin's Church). Refreshments, (before & after dedication ceremony), in the church & the church is air conditioned. Here are the names of the veterans: Revolutionary War Soldiers & Patriot Name Born Died Rank 1. 1. Eli Baldwin of Lima, Del. Co., Pa., born ca. 1792
    2. Several Baldwins are looking for a male Baldwin descendant of Eli Baldwin to participate in a DNA test. Eli, who appears in the Hannum Genealogy because of his second marriage, lived in Delaware County, and had sons who lived in both Delaware and Chester Counties, probably including William, Elwood, Isaac, Marshall, James, Alfred L., and Pratt. The purpose of the test is to confirm whether Eli could be the son of Levi Baldwin of New Castle County, Del., to whom Aubrey H. Baldwin attributed him, and to determine whether one of his probable descendants, who was adopted at an early age, in fact shares the same DNA pattern. The test involves only a swab from the inside of the cheek on a small stiff-bristled brush. The results identify a characteristic pattern that is passed unchanged from father to son, but do not extend to DNA characteristics that affect health or determine inherited traits. The results are completely confidential unless you choose to release them, or you authorize the testing laboratory to share contact information with people whose DNA closely matches yours. If you are a descendant of Eli, or any of the brothers Thomas, John and Francis Baldwin who came to Pennsylvania in 1682, you can help sort out some of the still-uncertain relationships, especially among descendants of Francis. Further information about DNA testing can be found on my Devine Surname web page, at http://hometown.aol.com/donndevine/myhomepage/heritage.html. Please contact me by e-mail if you have an interest in this project or have questions about it. 3. Dear Helen & List, Whoa! I didn't say "bounded" - I said BONDED. Please see my exact wording below! "A very long time ago someone said it had to be a "bonded" copy. I don't know what that is. I think it was Helen Imburgia I wrote to about this subject a few years ago." AND, let me make a public apology to you Helen...as you'll see I said "I Think" it may have been you. I have been VERY appreciative of all the great information and advise you have given me as well as posting to this List. I would never in a million years intentionally hurt any feelings. Sorry for mentioning your name in the email :) So..if there is such a think as a BONDED copy someone please let me know. Otherwise, I am going to ship this booklet to the DCHS. Thanks again to all who have contacted me and apologies for any misunderstanding. 1. MARGERUM/DEHAVEN WEDDING?
    2. Dee Thompson
    3. Does anyone know of the marriage of Annie Margerum (born July 18, 1839 in Trenton, New Jersey, daughter of Philemon Dickerson Margerum & Eleanor Polhemus) to a DeHaven? The DeHavens would have been in the Philadelphia area. We have reason to believe he might have been a CHARLES DeHaven (Bible). The wedding would have been abt.1857. The Margerum family moved from New Jersey to the Philadelphia area but I don't know if this was before or after Annie's wedding (Annie's parents were listed in the 1880 Pa census in Chester County). At one time (1892) Annie and her husband lived in Norristown (124 E. Main Street). They didn't have any children. I am grateful for any help. Dee (Anne DeHaven Conard Thompson, Atlanta) For details on the reference sources used for lookups, refer to this link: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncbladen/lookups.htm
